Nick Johnston–designed Electric from Schecter

The Nick Johnston Traditional from Schecter is a metal and rock players' dream axe. Designed in conjunction with progressive rock instrumentalist virtuoso Nick Johnston, this solidbody electric guitar is built for tone. Featuring a lightweight, resonant alder body and roasted maple neck with ebony fingerboard, this guitar delivers great sustain and feels amazing in your hands. A trio of Schecter Diamond Nick Johnston Single-coil pickups is also onboard for pristine, hot-rocking tone.

Neck designed for play

Nick Johnston burst onto the progressive rock scene in the past decade as a young, visionary player who drew on many styles to produce truly innovative sounds and melodic instrumentals. He is known for his incredible neck work, and the Nick Johnston Traditional features a thin C-shaped, roasted maple neck that is ideal for exploring the type of aggressive artistry Johnston has become known for. The ebony fingerboard with 22 extra-jumbo frets produces wonderful intonation and is smooth and responsive. And really cool brass circle fingerboard inlays add an enticing visual to this already stunning neck.

Three single-coil pickups deliver killer tone

Three Schecter Diamond Nick Johnston Singe-coil pickups give you a massive array of classic single-coil tone. And with a 5-way pickup selector and master tone and volume controls, you can dial in subtle tone-shaping configurations from clear and singing to gritty and hard-hitting. And a Diamond Vintage Tremolo bridge adds stellar tonal support and tremolo coloring to your arsenal.

Well. Sorry Fender

THis guitar has the most wonderful neck. OPened the box a week ago. Been playing this every day. Have many guitars. I also have a Schecter PT with the neck P90 and I have the Schecter Black PT with Maple neck and those superrock humbuckers. THe PT with P90 and light weight Ash body has neck dive. THe PT Black is a bit heavy but my god the tone of those humbuckers, and quality throughout Hard rock all the way. Back to the Nick Johnson in Pink Coral. I regret the tiniest bit I did not buy the bridge humbucker version, but not enough to take a star away. This guitar sustains through the whole guitar, body to the tuners. The bridge single coil is sparkly and bright. The neck pickup is a slightly hotter Texas style tone...smooth. The neck is as playable as my PT black-Perfect. I have medium hands and I can stretch and keep the chords ringing due to the jumbo frets and perfectly shaped neck. The Ebony fretboard is slick. No tooling marks anywhere on neck and all frets are perfectly beveled and polished. The neck pocket is a perfect fit. Bridge placement is perfect. Electronics perfect. PERFECTION ! Even the entry model USA made strats are not near the quality of this guitar. The Schecter locking Tuners are very good. Stays in tune after tremolo use. Just a wonderful instrument at this price point. So happy I made this purchase. I will be selling a few guitars because I want another Schecter for my stable.

Great modernized Strat

If you want a strat-style guitar with some modern appointments, you should definitely consider the Nick Johnston Traditional. Fit and finish is outstanding (Schecter always does great work here), and my guitar was ready to play out of the box. The toasted neck is smooth-as-can-be and the extra-jumbo frets facilitate wide bends. The electronics are solid, and the pickups have a warm-vintage sound while maintaining the in-between "quack" that make strats so much fun.

The ebony fingerboard (with the classy brass inlays) is a significant improvement over most of the dark-wood fingerboards that Fender offers in this price range. Other smart changes include easy truss-rod access at the heel, locking tuners, and a side input jack. The pink color is also just plain stylish.

If you want a strat that carefully balances the modern and the traditional, this Nick Johnston is an excellent choice. Sweetwater provides a great shopping experience, and I want to thank my sales engineering, Eric Mathews, for always providing expert advice and prompt, attentive service.

One Amazing Guitar!

I bought this guitar for my granddaughter and she and I are really impressed with it. I chose one with a really dark roasted maple neck and it is a real joy for us to play. The neck is smooth like satin. Not sticky at all. The flat radius and thin "C" shaped neck make it very easy for her to fret. She loves the coral color and mint green pick guard and I love the extra jumbo frets and body contours.

Single coil pickups are exactly what we wanted. I have an American Professional Fender Strat (from Sweetwater, of course!) and this Schecter is every bit as nice. Setup was great (about 1.75mm off the low E at the 12th fret) and everything about this guitar screams quality. I used to think Schecter guitars were a well kept secret, but the secret is out. They are an amazing value.

As always, my sales rep Adam Vaughn was great. World class customer service and follow up after the sale. I'm a Sweetwater customer for life!

Pink Perfection

The combination of pink, brass inlays, ebony fret board and roasted maple neck makes this one gorgeous looking guitar. I had to set it up to my liking, which means tuning it to e flat and floating the bridge. I also removed a spring on the trem as the trem bar was way to stiff. Once set up, it came to life for me, the pickups sound as you would expect from a strat light guitar but cranking up the overdrive, they handle just nicely.

This is a real winner here. My only complaint is that i wish the neck was slightly thicker, but then again I also have a super flat ibanez RG550.
