A trio of hand-wound pickups delivers monumental tone
Schecter pickups from the mid-'70s and early-'80s have become highly sought after by players worldwide. Guitarists at Sweetwater are excited that Schecter is now making a complete line of custom pickups, including the VS-1 single-coil, all fastidiously handwound in the company's Sun Valley, California, factory. VS-1 pickups are known for rich cleans, with plenty of output on tap for biting, aggressive overdrive tone. Their Alnico V magnets are hand-beveled for optimum response across all strings.
Schecter Guitar Research — a brief history
Founded in 1976 by David Schecter, Schecter Guitar Research originally produced high-end replacement parts for existing Fender and Gibson guitars. In 1979, the company began producing their own fully assembled custom shop electric guitars. Schecter guitars quickly garnered a solid reputation as a result of their remarkably high quality and soon found their way into the hands of such celebrated guitarists as Pete Townshend and Mark Knopfler.
