The Ultimate Nashville-style Tele

Brent Mason discovered his famous Telecaster in a Nashville guitar shop back in the early ‘80s. From its primer gray finish right down to Brent’s pickup and B-bender upgrades, the Fender Brent Mason Telecaster re-creates this fabled solidbody electric guitar — the one he used on a thousand hit records. You’ll love the feel of the Brent Mason Tele’s comfortable maple neck, while a vintage-spec’d fingerboard enables effortless playability. A diverse trio of Seymour Duncan pickups and flexible wiring unleash the full gamut of rock and country tones. And a Nashville-built Glaser Bender System gives rise to spine-tingling pedal-steel effects. The Brent Mason Telecaster just might be Fender’s most sonically versatile Tele ever. After all, it’s versatile enough for a man who’s arguably the most prolific session guitarist of all time. Includes a deluxe hardshell case.

This vintage-spec’d Tele plays like a well-oiled machine

The Brent Mason Telecaster features classic Tele construction. Its rock-hard ash body contributes to its core sound — a bright, biting tone with near-endless sustain. This solidbody electric guitar boasts a gray auto primer-esque finish that’s coated with über-durable satin urethane. Its comfortable maple neck fills your hand nicely, while a vintage-spec’d, 7.25-radius maple fingerboard with 21 vintage-tall frets supplies you with the perfect launchpad for wicked leads, lightning-fast chord changes, and ear-grabbing chicken-pickin’. A bone nut and locking tuners seal the deal. While it doesn’t fit the conventional idea of stunning, the guitarists here at Sweetwater dig the vibe of this Telecaster. It looks — and plays — like a well-oiled machine.

Three versatile pickups deliver any tone at a moment’s notice

When Brent got ahold of his signature Telecaster, the first thing he did was swap out the pickups. As one of the most prolific session players of his generation, he needed one guitar that could deliver any tone at a moment’s notice. The Fender Brent Mason Tele boasts this same configuration of high-performance Seymour Duncan pickups. At the bridge, you’ll find a Vintage Stack Tele STK-T3B. This stacked humbucker delivers classic Telecaster tone — chock-full of bite and twang — with zero hum. In the middle is a Hot Stack Strat STK-S2. Similar to the Brent Mason Telecaster’s bridge pickup, this one features a stacked, hum-free design. But, that’s where the similarities end. The STK-S2 features a blade magnet for unparalleled string balance and zero dropouts during bends, plus an overwound design that yields beefed-up, high-octane Stratocaster tones. Finally, at the neck you’ll find a Vintage Mini Humbucker. This pint-sized humbucker injects your playing with tight lows, punchy mids, and smooth-sounding highs that morph into a rich growl when overdriven. The Brent Mason Telecaster includes a 3-position blade pickup selector, along with a master volume, a separate middle pickup volume, and a master tone with a push-pull that engages the middle pickup.

Glaser Bender System — the smoothest B-/G-bender out there

Aside from upgrading its pickups, the other big modification that Brent made to his signature Tele was the addition of a Glaser Bender System — the smoothest B-/G-bender out there. The result of 50 years of development, the Nashville-built Glaser Bender System is user-convertible between a B- and G-bender. It’s smooth, lightweight, non-intrusive, and most importantly, it sounds amazing. There’s a reason why Brent, in addition to Kenny Vaughan, Brad Paisley, James Mitchell, Mike Campbell, and stable of other A-list guitarists use it. The Glaser Bender is super-solid, with no slack or wobble, and includes a built-in fine-tuner to ensure a perfect destination pitch. If you’re good with a B-bender, you’ll be able to coax authentic pedal steel sounds out of the Brent Mason Telecaster — effortlessly.

The BEAST

Bought this a little over a year ago. I usually wait until I have had enough time on stage with it and absolutely love it. It is my main guitar every night. I play country classic rock 50s and 60s rock n roll and blues. Handles everything wonderful. From clean to dirty. Love the hot stack pickup. So many tone options! B bender is easy and smooth. Locking tuners are great. I can change strings right b4 a show and s quick stretch and they never slip! Don't hesitate. Buy it and talk to Mason! Mason is an awesome sales engineer!

All you need and more...

Fender did a great job building this guitar.

If you're a telecaster player your other tele's will not be happy to see this guitar in the room as they won't be getting any wheee near the playing time they are use to.

Great feel, great tone, the Novel and unique middle pickup settings make this quite a versatile guitar capable of playing
Organically in a lot of different musical settings.

I'm extremely happy and if you are lucky to get your hands on one, you'll be too!

Brent Mason Signiture Telecaster

Everything you ever wanted in a Telecaster, and then some. Well built with all top shelf parts and components. Plays great with a good solid weight. Well worth it to me.
Music background: Playing on and off since 1967. Regularly since 2003. Due to hand injuries and 5 surgeries, I play a lot of slide.

Tremendous tone and versatility!

I've only had this guitar for a couple of days, but with as many nice instruments as I have, and as long as I've been playing, it took no time to recognize the quality and versatility of this instrument.

Despite the drab paint job and mismatched hardware colors, the guitar just oozes quality. All of the hardware looks and feels top notch. Fret work is clean, bone nut is perfect, locking tuners are solid, bender feels great and is easily adjustable, and overall fit and finish is excellent.

Cosmetically, I wish they would consider offering this with a couple of different options - matching hardware colors and maybe a couple of different finish options. I know it wouldn't be a "replica" guitar at that point, but it could still be a signature guitar and the cosmetic appeal would likely open up a bunch of additional buyers who want a very high quality, very versatile telecaster with a bender installed.

Sonically, there's nothing to complain about here. The bridge pickup just tears through everything from twangy country licks to searing rock power chords and leads. The front pickup is not my personal favorite - the low to low-mids just feels a touch off to me, but its still nice and also versatile. (and with some tweaking on pickup height i may be able to improve it a bit). The middle pickup is interesting. It tends to mellow out the sound a little when used with the other pickups, and has a nice funky vibe when used on its own. I don't think it quite nails the strat sound, but its certainly close enough.

The controls are not necessarily the most intuitive - again, i know its a replica guitar, but at some point i may consider moving the push/pull for the middle pickup to the middle control...that seems to make a bit more sense. (Frankly, a 5 way switch with the option to have bridge and neck together would make even more sense) But, little quirks aside, it all works great and you should easily adapt to the controls.

I've never had a proper bender before - I have what is basically a "palm style" g-bender on another guitar, and this just feels so much better than that one. It's very easy to adjust the tension to your preference, and dial in the tuning of the bender.

All in all, this is an amazing telecaster - high quality, crazy tonal flexibility, and a top notch bender pre-installed. It really is a great guitar at a very reasonable price considering what you are getting. knocking 1/2 a star just for the minor quirks noted above.

WOW - One amazing guitar.

Never mind the looks, this is one awesome guitar. Impressive wide range of tones and pickups that are phenomenal. Ash body is exceptionally resonate. The 7.5 radius neck is comfortable, fast and fun to play, once you get used to it if you are used to larger radius necks.

The B-bender is a really cool addition that's fun to play around with.

Just got a professional setup done on this bad boy and it's incredible what this guitar can do and how it plays.

I was hesitate about dropping almost $ on a guitar, but now I am glad I did.

Definitely an guitar players guitar for sure. WOW !!!
