A Tele for Today’s Performers

Imagine a classic Corona-built Tele in all its glory, tastefully refined for the modern performer — that’s the Fender American Ultra II Telecaster! This alder-bodied 6-string boasts updated backside contouring and a sculpted neck heel, making this legendary design extremely comfortable to wield. Fitted with a quartersawn maple neck that’s been carved to a speedy Modern D profile, the American Ultra II’s comfortably classic appeal only strengthens as your chording hand falls into place. Expect that cherished Telecaster shimmer without the pesky hum when you warm up these Ultra II Noiseless Vintage Tele single-coils, providing professional-grade results in live settings and studio-standard tones when recording. Finally, sealed locking tuners and a 6-saddle hardtail bridge maintain peace of mind during every performance and round out the American Ultra II Telecaster’s outstanding union of tradition and innovation.

The Tele feel we’ve always wanted

Fashioned with a body of alder wood, the American Ultra II Telecaster sports a nice weight right out of the gate — but there’s a catch! Instead of the traditional flat body design typically associated with Telecasters, the American Ultra II comes comfortably shaped with long contouring at the upper waist, subtle contouring at the back of the cutaway, and convenient top shaping at the lower bout. This trifecta of attention ensures a greater connection to the instrument as you play, keeping discomfort out of the equation. Joining the revelry, a sculpted neck heel and Modern D neck profile further streamline maneuverability and speed across the American Ultra II, delivering a truly commanding grasp never before felt on a Telecaster.

Buzz-free Ultra II single-coils

What’s your Tele tone poison? From the twang and punch of country and blues to the grace and growl of soul and folk rock, these Ultra II Noiseless Vintage Tele pickups will do the trick and then some. Infused with those iconic single-coil sounds that we’ve known and loved for so many years, this pickup pairing can travel the musical timeline better than most. Both pickups come engineered for stunningly noise-free operation, meaning that the age-old irritations of single-coil buzz and hum are now simply stresses of the past. Polish your sonic vibe with master Tone and Volume controls, and totally transform the signal quality of your live rig or studio sound.

Dashingly dutiful hardware

Being so performer friendly, it only makes sense that the American Ultra II Telecaster comes fortified with the proper hardware to hold its own. This starts at the headstock, where Fender’s Deluxe Cast sealed locking tuning machines keep a solid watch on your intonation, while a Graph Tech TUSQ nut purifies your strings’ every nuance. Down at the body, a 6-saddle string-through-body hardtail bridge hosts chrome-plated brass saddles to aid in delivering that legendary Tele snappiness with total dependability. To top it all off, the American Ultra II Telecaster dons a sharp-looking anodized aluminum pickguard that emphasizes the modern edge this 6-string so boldly struts.

Fender American Ultra II Telecaster Features:

  • Alder body features new contouring at the upper waist, cutaway, and top-side lower bout for maximum playing comfort and connection
  • Quartersawn maple neck with sculpted heel and Modern D profile offers a vintage hold with speed for today’s players
  • Ultra II Noiseless Vintage Tele single-coil pickups permit iconic Tele twang and shimmer without the pesky humming
  • Master Tone and Volume controls give players the simple yet effective sound-shaping tools to suit any Tele vibe
  • Deluxe Cast sealed locking tuners promise fantastic intonation
  • Graph Tech TUSQ nut keeps string response pure and even
  • 6-saddle string-through-body hardtail bridge hosts chrome-plated brass saddles to double up on sonic snap and dependability
  • Anodized aluminum pickguard looks incredible and adds a modern edge to this timeless classic

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

Note: While Certified Open Box items from Fender do not include the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation warranty, you can shop with confidence knowing that this item is backed and covered by Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!

Reviews

Dream Guitar
As a guy coming from Squires and LTDs I was completely floored when I picked this up. The neck is superb compared to anything I'd ever held before. The overall weight is light and well balanced. The color is unlike anything I've laid my eyes on, golden brown to black to green, depending on the light. Fast playing and sounds wonderful. Everything a Telecaster is supposed to be plus. I'm the envy of everyone I play with, mostly because I suck but have this high performance luxury vehicle of a guitar. May I play as good as its potential.
Perfect Tele for me

Wall of text incoming!

Waited to post a review of my Texas Tea color Ultra II tele I bought about 7 months ago. Looks exactly as I imagined. The neck feels incredibly smooth. Maybe it's because it's my first compound radius fingerboard, but it really is 1000% easier to play compared to my other guitars that all have a mono radius of 10" or 12" etc. The pickups took a little finagling to get where I wanted them to be, but once I figured them out they sound great! It'll get you 90-95% to the very classic tele bridge tone, but if you were looking for traditional then buy traditional. The S1 switch reminds me more of a P90 sound instead of a humbucker sound, but I already have another guitar with humbuckers in them that I'll use when I need the humbucker tone. But what this S1 switch does is allow you to get that extra oomph beyond what a single coil can do. The belly and forearm cuts remind me of the MIM Strat I've owned for years now and is very comfortable for long duration playing. The thing that really makes this my tele for life I won't sell ever is that compared to the other dozen or so guitar I own, this thing holds tune for

ever! I like playing a lot of bendy bends and a little wiggling here and there since this model wasn't built with a trem system. But I MIGHT have to retune ever so slightly maybe once a week and I've been unable to put this thing down since I bought it. I've been playing for 2 to 3 hours a day enjoying every minute. This is also the first guitar I've bought that specifically uses a quartersawn wood for the neck. I'm sold on that being an important part of holding tune. To sum it all up... bought it, haven't put it down, stays in tune for years, never getting rid of it, it's become my absolute favorite guitar out of all the dozens I own. 1000% worth every penny. I paid for quality and got the best quality. Best purchase ever. Great job to the guys at the Fender shop. This feels like Custom Shop work instead of quality just under Custom Shop. I'm thinking I hit the lottery!!!

The Tele for those who don't even like Teles
My first experience with a Telecaster was not great. The neck was clunky, the feel of the fretboard was difficult. I remember thinking: maybe the Telecaster was not the guitar for me.

Ultra II changed the calculus. I wasn't expecting to like it, but the feel of the neck, the shape of the body...this fixes everything that I thought was "broken" about it.

The Telecaster is like a basic hammer in your toolbox: it does one thing, it does it well, and if you have a good one, it makes all the difference.

This is a fantastic guitar, and I can't sing the praises of Ultra II enough.
Ultra ll Telecaster Texas Tea
This is a wonderful guitar. It has the smooth and comfortable contours of a stratocaster but with an overall telecaster body shape. Fender put all of their very best features into this instrument which include locking tuners, a compound radius and D shaped neck which is quarter sawn, vintage noiseless pickups which I think are very good, chrome brass saddles, an S-1 switch, and all the body contours. The fit and finish on my guitar are exceptional and I really like the ebony fretboard and the texas tea color. I did not need to have a luthier set up the guitar because Fender did a very good job on this as well. I highly recommend this guitar. Unless you are looking for vintage specs. it is custom shop quality but without the price tag.
BTW, my sales engineer, Alan Carter, is such a pleasure to work with. He is always helpful and very prompt at getting back to me with answers to my questions, recommendations etc.
Fendrr Ultra II

Started playing in 1963.1967 our band played our first high school dance. I was 13. I managed to scrape together 29.95 bought a Tesco guitar and had a 100 watt monkey wards amp. I turned 16 I managed to buy a les Paul custom black beauty. . Needless to say nothing finer in the day. YOU COULD WRITE A SONG WITH THAT LINE. The black beauty was a gift to my youngest son. Anyways never could quite find the guitar to equate to my black beauty. I doubt I'll ever take the stage again. I love to rock it out by myself. Band is gone on to jam for God. OH yea the Ultra II. Ebony fret board. Its fast its smooth. It plays like a dream. I'm impressed with the quality of workmanship. And I do have custom shop fenders.

It’s impossible to imagine a world without Fender guitars, and if you’re like many of the guitarists at Sweetwater, then Fender not only made the first guitar you ever bought " they made the last one too! From building the first mass-produced solidbody electric guitars and basses in the 1950s to creating some of the most influential amplifier designs in history, it’s no wonder why Fender is one of the biggest names in the business. As one of the world’s largest Fender dealers, we have countless guitars, basses, amps, effects pedals, and accessories in stock and ready to ship, whenever you need them. We’re always getting our hands on their latest creations, and there’s nothing we love more than to tell our customers all about them!
