The Finest American Professional Telecaster Yet!

Fender’s American Professional series produced some of the most popular instruments at Sweetwater among working musicians and discerning amateurs. Now, with the American Professional II series, Fender has upped the ante, outfitting the formidable line with a slew of player-centric upgrades. The Fender American Professional II Telecaster features Tim Shaw’s latest V-Mod Tele single-coils, which deliver familiar Tele twang with enhanced clarity and focus. To provide an exceptional playing experience, the American Professional II Telecaster boasts a Deep "C" profile neck with a satin finish and a contoured heel joint. A Tele is a must-have in any guitar collection, and they don’t get much finer than the Fender American Professional II Telecaster.

The new standard for professional instruments

After the wild success of the original American Professional Stratocaster, Fender's team of designers dedicated themselves to improving on the design. The resulting instrument, the American Professional II Telecaster, features several improvements and upgrades that push the classic design to new heights. V-Mod II Telecaster single-coil pickups dish out signature Tele spank and twang with added detail. The upgraded “cut” 3-saddle top-load/string-through bridge has a classic look with enhanced flexibility for setting individual string tension to achieve perfect intonation. Factor in the all-new "Super-Natural" neck finish, and the Fender American Professional II Telecaster sets the tone for what a professional-level instrument should look, sound, and feel like.

Upgraded pickups promote clarity

For the American Professional II Telecaster, Fender's pickup guru, Tim Shaw, created a new breed of V-Mod single-coil pickups. The V-Mod II Tele single-coils have a vintage voice with modern clarity that players will appreciate. And, their volume mod circuit lets you pull back on the gain knob, without sacrificing top end, making it incredibly versatile onstage. Run it through your grittiest dirt pedals or your cleanest amp and the Fender American Professional II Telecaster will sound right at home.

Custom Shop-influenced neck

The Deep "C" neck profile that you'll find on the Fender American Professional II Telecaster solidbody electric guitar is a slight upgrade from the Fender American neck players have been in love with for years. By adding a touch more roundness to the back contour, the Deep "C" carve fills your hand perfectly while never inhibiting your technique. For added playing comfort, the back of the neck is finished in Fender's "Super-Natural" satin finish that feels fast and inviting. Your fingers will immediately notice how much control they have on the fretboard's Narrow Tall frets. For good reason, this fret wire is the most requested size at the Fender Custom Shop.

Fender American Professional II Telecaster Electric Guitar Features:

  • Updated and upgraded Telecaster for the performing musician
  • V-Mod II single-coil pickups provide classic Tele twang with greater articulation
  • 3-saddle top-load/string-through bridge has a classic look with enhanced flexibility
  • Satin-finished maple neck feels fast and responsive
  • Deep "C" neck profile sits securely in your hand
  • Contoured neck heel enhances comfort when playing in the upper register
  • Narrow Tall frets play effortlessly

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

Note: While Certified Open Box items from Fender do not include the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation warranty, you can shop with confidence knowing that this item is backed and covered by Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items

Reviews

Out of the box, ready to go
After not playing a solid body guitar since 1987, and using exclusively various acoustic guitars for the last 25 years, I teamed up with a long time friend and musician and formed a duet gigging wineries. He plays mostly electric, some acoustic, and I'm acoustic with a fiddle and harmonica. I got interested in rockabilly and decided I'd like try some of it. Never had a Fender, but have heard plenty of them for sure. My last solid body was a Les Paul Deluxe, but I wanted more of the twangy country sound so I bought this guitar. Right out the box and little bit of tuning and this baby was ready to go. Action was factory perfect. I'm running it through a Fishman loudbox ARTIST. Sweet. A big thank you to my sales engineer, Patrick Weaver for all his help. This is my 6th guitar purchase from Sweetwater, and anytime things didn't work out, Patrick took care of it. You won't be sorry with this guitar. ( That's my Fender FV-1 electric fiddle in the pic.)
Music background: 50 yrs. +
Best guitar ever !
After playing a (surprisingly good) Squier Telecaster for a year, I decided to upgrade. I have (7) other guitars, but this Professional II is definitely my favorite of the bunch. The neck is so smooth, it's like it's not even there !

This is my 1st purchase from Sweetwater, but it won't be my last. They know how to do things right !
Music background: Just an old garage band 'boomer' who likes to play every day for fun !
Awesome Guitar
I've been playing this guitar for about 3 weeks now, and for me, it sounds great through my Fender Blues Junior IV amp, it plays very smoothly, and I couldn't be happier. When I purchased this guitar from Sweetwater, I had the guitar customized by their luthier with noiseless pickups and locking tuning keys, which brings the guitar very near to the features of the Ultra Telecaster. I like the narrower neck on the AM Pro II a "little" better than my American Ultra Stratocaster, but the ease of playing either guitars is very similar.
Music background: Playing guitar since 1968
Superb Sounding Guitar
Having no patience and Not wanting to wait for an American Ultra Tele backorder, I decided on the American Pro II. Working with the help and advice of Sweetwater expert Rob Kramer, I had the guitar customized with the same noiseless pickups and locking tuning keys that come with an Ultra. I received the guitar 3 days later. It sounds exactly the way I hoped for, and plays just as smoothly and easily as my American Ultra Stratocaster. I love the Telecaster, except now I have the problem of being torn between the Tele and Strat Ultra....They are both such equally good sounding and playing guitars. I guess that's a good problem to have.
Played thru a Fender Blues Junior IV amp, I couldn't ask for anything more. I am totally contented and am glad I made the purchase.
Fender telecaster rep was TJ Jackson
This is a great company to buy a guitar from. They photo the actual guitar and let you know any details of the order.
The fender tele pro ii is wonderful. It's responsive at all frequencies and rich in tone. Tim with his V mod has something going right.
TJ has handled my last two guitars from Sweetwater. He's smart and spot on.

Definitely recommend them and this guitar.
Very happy.
Music background: Lifetime of happiness.
