The Finest American Professional Telecaster Yet!

Fender’s American Professional series produced some of the most popular instruments at Sweetwater among working musicians and discerning amateurs. Now, with the American Professional II series, Fender has upped the ante, outfitting the formidable line with a slew of player-centric upgrades. The Fender American Professional II Telecaster features Tim Shaw’s latest V-Mod Tele single-coils, which deliver familiar Tele twang with enhanced clarity and focus. To provide an exceptional playing experience, the American Professional II Telecaster boasts a Deep "C" profile neck with a satin finish and a contoured heel joint. A Tele is a must-have in any guitar collection, and they don’t get much finer than the Fender American Professional II Telecaster.

The new standard for professional instruments

After the wild success of the original American Professional Stratocaster, Fender's team of designers dedicated themselves to improving on the design. The resulting instrument, the American Professional II Telecaster, features several improvements and upgrades that push the classic design to new heights. V-Mod II Telecaster single-coil pickups dish out signature Tele spank and twang with added detail. The upgraded “cut” 3-saddle top-load/string-through bridge has a classic look with enhanced flexibility for setting individual string tension to achieve perfect intonation. Factor in the all-new "Super-Natural" neck finish, and the Fender American Professional II Telecaster sets the tone for what a professional-level instrument should look, sound, and feel like.

Upgraded pickups promote clarity

For the American Professional II Telecaster, Fender's pickup guru, Tim Shaw, created a new breed of V-Mod single-coil pickups. The V-Mod II Tele single-coils have a vintage voice with modern clarity that players will appreciate. And, their volume mod circuit lets you pull back on the gain knob, without sacrificing top end, making it incredibly versatile onstage. Run it through your grittiest dirt pedals or your cleanest amp and the Fender American Professional II Telecaster will sound right at home.

Custom Shop-influenced neck

The Deep "C" neck profile that you'll find on the Fender American Professional II Telecaster solidbody electric guitar is a slight upgrade from the Fender American neck players have been in love with for years. By adding a touch more roundness to the back contour, the Deep "C" carve fills your hand perfectly while never inhibiting your technique. For added playing comfort, the back of the neck is finished in Fender's "Super-Natural" satin finish that feels fast and inviting. Your fingers will immediately notice how much control they have on the fretboard's Narrow Tall frets. For good reason, this fret wire is the most requested size at the Fender Custom Shop.

Fender American Professional II Telecaster Electric Guitar Features:

  • Updated and upgraded Telecaster for the performing musician
  • V-Mod II single-coil pickups provide classic Tele twang with greater articulation
  • 3-saddle top-load/string-through bridge has a classic look with enhanced flexibility
  • Satin-finished maple neck feels fast and responsive
  • Deep "C" neck profile sits securely in your hand
  • Contoured neck heel enhances comfort when playing in the upper register
  • Narrow Tall frets play effortlessly

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

Note: While Certified Open Box items from Fender do not include the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation warranty, you can shop with confidence knowing that this item is backed and covered by Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

Review Update
My initial review from 2021 I had only had the guitar for less than a month. Now that I've had it for 5 years I can offer a better user review. I also own the American Pro II Strat and I use it primarily, but I can say Tele is just great a guitar. I have explored the push/push pickup feature and I use it a lot. Using the bridge pup selection the push/push adds some mellow richness almost like humbucker tone. I've used it playing ZZ Top, Cream, country and roc- a- Billy and always I'm very satisfied with the tone, sustain, and with locking tuners it rarely requires tuning. This is a fantastic guitar and I highly recommend it. I play through Boss Nextone 80w amp and Boss ME90 effects unit - it hits all the tones I care to use.

Incredible Experience with Kyle at Sweetwater!!!
I recently purchased a Fender American Professional II from Sweetwater, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. Kyle, my sales engineer, was amazing—super knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in helping me find the right guitar. He never rushed me or pushed anything on me, just offered great advice and made the whole process smooth and enjoyable.

He kept me updated every step of the way, which I really appreciated. When my American Professional II arrived, it was set up perfectly and ready to play straight out of the box. You can tell Sweetwater puts a lot of care into their service, and Kyle made all the difference.

If you're looking for new gear, I can't recommend Kyle enough. He truly cares about his customers, and I'll definitely be going back to Sweetwater for future purchases!
AM PRO 2 TELECASTER ROASTED PINE.
Since 1968 I've been playing mostly Gibson guitars. After seemingly DECADES OF searching for that Telecaster that "FIT PERFECTLY",& I FOUND IT IN THE AMERICAN PRO 2 TELECASTER,ROADTED PINE BODY,1ST OFF THE NECK,ONE OF THEE BEST PLAYING NECKS I'VE EVER PLAYED.SILKY SMOOTH,WITH LEAST AMOUNT OF PRESSURE TO PLAY IT WAS A SELLING POINT, THEN I PLUGGED IT IN. I TOOK HER HOME THAT SAME DAY.

Tele love
Picked up a Butterscotch Tele AmPro II and could not be happier … and kudos to my Sweetwater rep Randy Poteete for nabbing a light one , six pounds 4 ounces … thrilled
Primo Tele.
This is the first telecaster I have owned. After playing several friends telecaster's I wanted my own. The neck is smooth and fast, dry nor sweaty hands won't slow you down. The whole guitar feels solid even at only 7-8 lbs. super clean tones , the twangy crunch is phenomenal. Simple things in life , like this tele make everything alriiight! I play it everyday since I bought it , and I don't think I will pick any of my other guitars up for quit some time. Honestly regret not getting one when I started playing. I'm glad I chose Sweetwater as well, I chose the exact shade , and weight that I was looking for. August Yingling was good at helping me , and not pushing me into something I didn't want. Great guy, company, guitar not much else to say. Thank You for making this purchase enjoyable!

It’s impossible to imagine a world without Fender guitars, and if you’re like many of the guitarists at Sweetwater, then Fender not only made the first guitar you ever bought " they made the last one too! From building the first mass-produced solidbody electric guitars and basses in the 1950s to creating some of the most influential amplifier designs in history, it’s no wonder why Fender is one of the biggest names in the business. As one of the world’s largest Fender dealers, we have countless guitars, basses, amps, effects pedals, and accessories in stock and ready to ship, whenever you need them. We’re always getting our hands on their latest creations, and there’s nothing we love more than to tell our customers all about them!
