Portable, Playable, Uncompromising Percussion

The traditional cajon — the one you sit on — can be traced to the late 19th century and was popularized by people of West and Central African origins. Its versatility has made it a staple among many musical styles. Still, Meinl Percussion’s statured R & D team endeavored to boldly reimagine the cajon’s percussive possibilities through an innovative form factor that doesn’t alienate its rich cultural heritage. Enter: the Travel Slaptop Cajon. Its T-shaped profile diversifies playing configurations to accommodate many classic and contemporary performances; it’s designed with a Baltic birch playing surface with eco-friendly, medium-density fiberboard for the remainder of its construction. Forward-facing ports and dual internal snare wires ensure sounds are reactive, precise, and always pointed to where they need to go. Percussionists at Sweetwater are positively impressed with Meinl’s portability-minded approach to the Travel Slaptop Cajon — it retains its trademark, crisp snare cajon sound while making travel a breeze.

Meinl Percussion Travel Slaptop Cajon Features:

  • Innovative slaptop form factor designed to introduce new percussive possibilities without compromising the distinctive tones of the centuries-old cajon
  • T-shaped profile that accommodates numerous playing styles to ensure historic and contemporary performances achieve sonic accuracy
  • Dual internal snares and forward-facing ports that ensure crisp, articulate tones
  • Baltic birch playing surface and eco-friendly fiberboard housing that reduce weight without compromising structural or sonic integrity

Reviews

The best and quite a surprise
This is so comfortable and the sound does project forward. It has the double snare on one side but if I hit off to the side you don't hear the snare and then it feels like a regulat bongo cajon. So comfortable on lap and non slip pads on bottom. If I could only get one cajon it would be this one. I do however have a bongo and two bongo cajons and getting a djembe del8vered tomorrow. The small rain stick doesn't do much. Recommend this.laptop 100%
