Yamaha Quality at an Affordable Price

The Yamaha TRBX174 bass guitar is an outstanding value for the modern bassist. The TRBX series is one of Yamaha's most popular basses, and for good reason. This cool-looking, great-sounding bass gives you a comfortable Yamaha body shape and a fast-action bolt-on maple neck with a smooth-playing sonokeling fingerboard. You get strong, punchy tone from the P/J arrangement of split-coil/single-coil pickups. Factor in the solid hardware and a range of great finishes, and you've got an eye-catching and ear-catching bass with the Yamaha TRBX174.

Comfortable body with progressive styling

One look at the Yamaha TRBX174 electric bass, and you know it means business. A deep cutaway gives you clean access to the higher registers for soloing, while the pronounced upper bout provides balance (and looks cool). You're going to love the way the TRBX174 looks and feels!

P/J pickup arrangement for a universe of great bass tones

The Yamaha TRBX174 sports a classic pickup layout: a split-coil in the middle position and a single-coil at the bridge. The Precision-style split-coil serves up the beef, giving you solid, deep fundamentals. the Jazz-style single delivers the growl, with strong mids and highs (particularly if you're strung up with round-wounds). How you combine the pickups is up to you, but one thing's for sure - you've got tons of tonal options!

Yamaha quality, through and through

The Yamaha TRBX174 bass is covered by the company's Limited Lifetime Warranty. Yamaha has been making world-class instruments for over a century, and they're supremely confident of the quality of the materials and workmanship that goes into their products. You can rest easy that you've made a solid decision in purchasing the Yamaha TRBX174 electric bass guitar!

Reviews

Correction to review. 4 stars not 2
I want to right a wrong in the 2 stars review I gave. I really do feel that is a great beginner/intermediate bass/ studio. I had a bad scale when I originally weighed it. With a newer calibrated scale, it comes in at 9.6 lbs. Not 12 lbs. like I originally posted I've greatly enjoyed this bass and it responds well to all genres, especially rock & metal. I did switch to flat wound strings, which makes this bass a dream, especially for the price. I still give it 4 stars because it does feel heavy compared to other bass guitars I have. But again, an all-around bass.

Fantastic
This is my first bass. Awesome action, beautiful finish, wonderful neck. Holds tunings tight. I have to repeat the action—I've grown so much with this bass. And Sweetwater constantly follows through with support and professionalism!
what to say....
What can I say? It's what I need and it suits me perfectly. Thanks for making it available for me.
Awesome starter bass

This is my first bass and couldn't be happier with my decision on the Yamaha 174. It's fairly light weight and well balanced which is important to me. Zero fret buzz across the neck, stable tuning with nice sounding electronics. Not only does it sound and play great, it looks beautiful as well. I researched starter basses under and played the Squire Sonic as well as a Yamaha BB base just over my budget. I also read lots of good things about Ibanez. I'm glad I went with this Yamaha. Probably has to do with my Yamaha Revstar and 612 I have that I'm also very happy with that swayed me to stay with the brand.

The beginning.
Just starting to learn the bass guitar, so I don't have much to say. Other than it's a beautiful looking guitar, weight is great, and well put together.
