Hand-hammered yellow brass bell for extra clarity
Traditionally, a trombone bell is hammered into shape by hand. In their pursuit of the finest sound possible, S.E. Shires relies on their team of highly-skilled artisans to transform a sheet of brass into a singing trombone bell. The TBQ36YA comes equipped with a QYB bell made of balanced-sounding yellow brass. This 2-piece bell design features S.E. Shires’s “QII” taper for a girthy tone. The TBQ36YA’s bell has a soldered bead for extra projection and focused articulation.
Independent axial-flow valves makes resistance disappear
By their very nature, F and Gb attachments introduce extra resistance to a trombone. With S.E. Shires’ axial-flow valves, however, resistance all but disappears! The company’s optimized valve design foregoes the sharp bends found in traditional rotors to keep the air moving in a straight line. For the player, axial-flow valves deliver an open feel similar to a straight tenor trombone. If less wind resistance is at the top of your wish list, choose an S.E. Shires trombone equipped with an axial-flow valve.
Customize your instrument with interchangeable leadpipes
S.E. Shires strives for perfection with every instrument they craft. However, every player’s preference is entirely unique. So how does a manufacturer ensure that a player will love their trombone? By providing the player with multiple leadpipes to choose from, of course! When you get your new TBQ36YA tenor trombone, you’ll find two extra leadpipes. The extra leadpipes let you customize the trombone’s response to fit your preference. Aside from customizing the response of your trombone, each leadpipe also has its own sound. If your next project requires a slightly different sound, just thread in the appropriate leadpipe and get playing!
