Incredible I hope they update
I'm going to buy a second unit was surprised that it's didn't degrade my preamps signal sounds so clean especially the price point. I hope they updated this sometime with Antares it's the perfect way to get autotune without Uad or antelope audio and it lets you record the dry signal at the same time just in case love it!!

This is a simple and effective way to get autotune working, and it provides a whole suite of vocal processing tools.
Blown Away!
I am a drummer turned guitar player. Vocals have been a very recent journey for me. I use a Tascam 24 at home. I invested in a Warm Audio WA67 which provided a tremendous quality boost to vocal clarity and presence. Adding the TA-1VP leveraged the mic investment many times over. I was able to step thru the mic profiles, EQ settings, DEsser, and of course a dash of auto-tune that took my previous vocal attempt to a high gloss finish straight out of the box - in practically less than 1 hour of playing around with the settings! I would much rather experiment than read! The studio I use locally has 10K worth of rack gear on its vocals. I can't compete with my engineer's skills and his pro-tools setup there, but this combo of Tascam gear with the Warm Mic has delivered generously towards pro-quality. I am very happy with this purchase! Also, I needed some assistance when it first arrived, which not only did I receive from Sweetwater, but also I got a prompt return call from Tascam in CA! FYI - the default setting for input on this device is line. It appears the majority of applications are rack mount line input. If you are using the Mic pre, you have to go into the sub menu to let it know! Who knew? I know now, and so do you!

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?
Daniel Fisher
As a live, multi-keyboard player and backup singer, I find that there's never a good place to set a mic stand that lets me play any keyboard and still be in front of the mic. So I have to use a headset mic even though they never sound quite as good as a handheld mic. This is where the TASCAM TA-1VP stepped in and became my most useful purchase of the year. It's a fully-packed toolbox designed to make my voice sound better in every way. The Mic Modeler can significantly change the "character" of your mic with only two parameters. Simply identify your source mic and then which model of mic you'd like to simulate. If you don't know what you want just try them all without reading them; rely totally on your ears. There are 19 sources and 11 models so it's very likely that one of the 209 combinations will work magic for you. Then, press the Tube button to warm it up. The AutoTune is very smooth and transparent if you want it to be, or you can totally go for the "T-Pain/Cher" effect by reducing the number of available scale notes (see TASCAM's FAQ page for sample settings). The compressor is very logical and musical. The gate is fantastic for blocking out my breathing when I'm not singing. And the de-esser and two-band parameteric EQ let me perfect the finished result. Now that I've stored my preset I just turn it on at the show and never think about it again. Oh yeah, it's also got a vocal doubler with a seperate audio out if you want it. (Processing the doubled part differently makes the illusion of a second voice even more convincing.)
