Tried-and-true Taylor Tone for All

Whether this is your first or fifth Taylor acoustic, the 14ce acoustic-electric guitar is sure to impress. The full-sized 14ce showcases Taylor’s signature Grand Auditorium body shape with a sleek Venetian-style cutaway, offering a comfortable fit for all players. Likewise, the combination of a solid Sitka spruce top, sapele back and sides, and a hard rock maple neck capped with a crelicam ebony fingerboard strikes the perfect balance of warmth, sparkle, and articulation in each chord strummed and every note picked. Versatile, reliable, and inspired, the 14ce delivers distinctive Taylor tone and comes equipped with Fishman Sonitone GT-2 electronics for when your performance calls for an amplified sound. For the guitarist just beginning their music journey and the lifelong player alike, the Taylor 14ce is the perfect accompaniment.

Grand Auditorium body style

Taylor's beloved Grand Auditorium body style, featured on the 14ce, employs the width and depth of the dreadnought. But its narrower waist gives Grand Auditorium-bodied acoustic guitars a sleeker look with remarkable high-end response — helping to sharpen the definition of each note. And the comfort of this body style is a huge reason the 14ce is a popular instrument for live performance. From fingerpicking to strumming, the 14ce Grand Auditorium is a great choice for nearly every playing style.

Classic tonewoods

The tonewoods chosen for the 14ce offer detailed tone, strong projection, and durability. The sapele back and sides offer rigid construction that aids in the guitar's pronounced tone and helps the instrument remain stable under fluctuating climate changes and rough handling. The maple neck ensures a ringing midrange with plenty of top-end detail. Lastly, the 14ce boasts a torrefied top made from solid Sitka spruce. While Sitka spruce is a natural choice for acoustic guitar tops, Sweetwater’s guitar gurus know Taylor’s roasting procedure (torrefaction) further enhances spruce’s resonant response while reducing weight and giving woodgrain an extra-vivid look.

Plug in with Fishman Sonitone GT-2 electronics

The Taylor 14ce houses Fishman Sonitone GT-2 electronics, a soundhole-mounted preamp with both tone and volume controls. The GT-2 amplifies the 14ce's natural warmth and sweetness, resulting in a plugged-in experience every bit as dynamic and responsive as the guitar’s organic sound. Whether performing on the national stage or at the local café, Fishman Sonitone GT-2 electronics will faithfully amplify that classic Taylor sound.

Taylor 14ce Features:

  • Grand Auditorium body style delivers exceptional high-end response
  • Torrefied spruce and sapele tonewoods provide balanced warmth and sparkle
  • Hard rock maple neck fuels comfortable playability and articulate tone
  • NuBone nut and micarta saddle ensure a buzz-free, well-tuned performance
  • Die-cast chrome-plated tuners maintain tuning stability
  • C-Class bracing allows the guitar's top to vibrate more freely with rich presence and powerful projection
  • Fishman Sonitone GT-2 electronics for dynamic amplified performance

Reviews

Best guitar I've bought yet.

I've had a lot of acoustic guitars and this is the most playable of all. It was $, and there nothing remotely close in that price range in another brand. It blows away anything under $ in other brands. I've had low medium Martins that just didn't have the fee of this one. If your thinking of spending a bunch of money on another guitar, you won't really be moving up.

Music background: 48 years of of playing
Love at first sight
Honestly a full size Taylor at this price point was a no-brainer, but wow, was I marveled! Right out the box the action is great, the fretwork is impecable, almost in tune despite shipping and transportation. Gorgeous, really gorgeous finish on a nice piece of spruce (boy, the way the smell invaded my living room!). It plays wonderfully and has a beatiful sustain and resonance. Great sound as well when plugged to a practice amp, so no issues there, I'm yet to try it on stage. For the past three days I haven't been able to put it down, it's really fun to play.
It came extremely well packaged and there was not even a scratch on this thing, as always great handling by the Sweetwater team. Great support from Todd and his peers who were patient enough to answer all my questions and even sent me cool studio photos of this beauty.

This guitar is pure value! Great sound! Great playability! Great quality! Just received mine today and it's what you would expect from Taylor! This guitar is great for anyone wanting to learn how to play guitar, to needing one to travel with, to just add "another" to the collection.

I will never get rid of this guitar
I haven't played in 20 years, and I am coming back. I did a bunch of YouTube research and the Taylor 14ce kept popping up in tons of reviews from builders to players. The sound is bright, but it's well balanced with rich deep tones. I looked at Alverez, Martin, and Yamaha. All solid guitars and I don't think I would have been disappointed if I had gotten any of them. I almost bought an Orangewood, as I also saw many great reviews but ultimately, my decision came to be decided by two variables:

1) How does it play in my hands? The answer is like gold. I love how it sounds. The action is low and easy to play. It makes me want to play it and that is the ultimate reason to buy any guitar.

2) Will I ever want to sell or trade it? I don't think so. It's the first-year guitar of this series. So, in 20 years, it will be special as a 2025 Taylor 14ce. More importantly, I don't think I would part with a great sounding acoustic that has the chops to let me grow as a musician for years to come.

It's not the fanciest or well-built guitar compared to almost every other Taylor models but its sound is…pure Taylor. It's full, it's bright, it's deep, and it's rich. As so many other people have already said; the 14ce is punching way above its price range.
