The Rane of Standalone, Cutting-edge Mixing Begins

Following its years-long tenure delivering a mélange of mixers, DJ controllers, and powerful performance tools fueled by Engine DJ and Serato DJ, Rane has raised the bar once again, producing a bona fide all-in-one DJ system that is the first of its kind. For Sweetwater’s mix masters, the conclusion is clear: the Rane System One drives the diversity needed for the next-gen DJ domain. Armed with motorized platters, onboard streaming support, a Mag Four XF crossfader, built-in SoundSwitch compatibility, electrifying effects, and an 8-band software EQ, the Engine DJ-powered system is teeming with set-defining mixing capabilities and detailed pro-level tactile interfacing. Precision Feel upfaders and RGB-backlit pads complement a versatile array of analog, digital, computer, and lighting connectivity, while an HD touchscreen display gives you instant, color-coded visual feedback to monitor and manage your tracks. And while the onboard Engine DJ OS supports the system’s searing sonic aperture, its native Serato compatibility unlocks untold realms of diabolical DJ dynamism — the Rane System One even includes an activation for Serato DJ Pro!

Game-changing performance features

The minds behind the Rane System One spared no effort in outfitting this comprehensive DJ unit with everything you need to elevate your set with a unified creativity-first workflow. With the rear-mounted USB-C computer port, mid-set hand-offs and back-to-back performances are a breeze, as OmniSource system architecture allows you to seamlessly swap between standalone media and music streaming services, as well as software sources, such as Serato DJ and Algoriddim djay, all without rebooting the unit. Moreover, the System One enables you to execute blends and remixes on the fly with standalone Stems, Stem FX, Instant Acapella and Instrumental buttons, Stems Pad Mode, and Stem Level controls.

Motorized platters and essential real-feel tactility

In creating an all-in-one system, Rane understood that a true club-grade DJ unit is more than just software in a controller, sans laptop. Through methodical distillation, the Rane System One balances the best of standalone performance with software-style flexibility. Its dual 7.2-inch motorized platters feature an adjustable high-torque design that lets you dial in the optimal tactile control, from a lifelike vinyl feel to smooth-as-glass spinning. Moreover, the System One features a tension-adjustable Mag Four XF crossfader and adjustable Precision Feel upfaders, handing you the reins to refine your setup for meticulous night-long mixes or explosive track-slamming sets.

The System One takes personalized performances even further, thanks to its bevy of convenient yet out-of-the-way tactile controls. The upfaders for both channels share a master Channel Contour knob, offering a range of level-adjustment profiles that continuously move from an exponential ramp to a consistent linear increase to a logarithmic jump. Similarly, the Crossfader Contour control lets you dial in how slowly or quickly you move between channels. Furthermore, each channel, along with the crossfader, can be independently toggled to function in reverse at any time. And for the utmost mix-tailoring modularity, each deck can be separately key-locked and toggled to faithfully emulate 33 1/3 or 45 rpm speeds.

Tenacious tone-shaping control and explosive hands-on effects

Curating the night’s aural odyssey means carefully monitoring and adapting to the energy of your crowd, and the Rane System One is teeming with performance appointments to accomplish just that. Its 16 RGB-backlit performance pads support multitudes of sound shaping and beat juggling capabilities, alongside extensive one-shot, Hot Cue, Roll, Sampler, and Stem tools, while dynamic displays above each octet of pads show you exactly what’s on deck. On the effects front, the System One’s searing Internal FX engine undergirds a triptych of timbral contouring: Touch FX, Fader FX, and Sweep FX. A pair of per-channel paddles offers detailed and satisfying hands-on tactility, giving you the freedom to warp and weave waveforms in momentary and continuous modes across Echo, Reverb, Recycle, Rise, and other effects. Plus, each effect offers a distinct degree of tone shaping, thanks to the Depth control, each channel’s respective Sweep FX knob, and a slew of Beats- and Parameter-anchored modifications.

Diverse display and high-definition waveform management

The System One’s ultra-vivid, 7-inch multi-touch display offers a focused yet flexible array of critical real-time information. Its 12-track viewing capacity streamlines your on-the-fly set building with color-coded key signatures, tempos, and track durations. System One’s trio of quick-access playlists makes these features even more valuable, allowing you to bank tracks from any media source. Moreover, the display seamlessly switches to an RGB waveform view, oriented in portrait to maximize precision and scrub through tracks with ease.

Designed to DJ your way: streaming, Wi-Fi, and multi-source mixing

From your carefully curated gems and IDs to the hottest tracks and the latest heat, the Rane System One is built to bring the noise, any way you DJ. The onboard Wi-Fi gives you direct access to myriad streaming platforms, spanning Apple Music, Amazon Music Unlimited, TIDAL, Beatsource, Soundcloud GO+, and Beatport. Rane pulled no punches with storage, either, allowing you to access your Dropbox via Wi-Fi and outfitting the System One with a trio of USB-A ports, an SD card reader, and an internal hard drive. What’s more, each of the three onboard playlist banks — marked with designated buttons on the left-hand deck for quick access — allows you to mix and match sources. This means you can exercise effortless creativity across streaming services, connected storage, and adjacent DJ software, all in one place. And if the System One’s flexibility weren’t enough, the headphone output supports a selectable Split Cue mixing mode, complete with a Cue-Main Mix blend knob.

Note: Use with streaming services requires individual accounts and subscriptions to each respective platform.

Let there be light: SoundSwitch and ferocious audiovisual connectivity

A DJ set to suit goes beyond streaming capability and storage support, and Rane has you covered. A host of connections includes a dedicated USB-C port for direct laptop connectivity, an XLR Main Out complemented by stereo RCA Auxiliary input and Main output terminals, and dual Mic combination jacks. Each Mic channel features a 2-band EQ, per-channel Level control, selectable Channel 1 Ducking, and dedicated Mic FX. The Aux channel doubles as a selectable Bluetooth connection, enabling any number of multimode setups and effortlessly integrating external hardware into your System One flow. On the visual front, Rane crafted the System One to control a broad swath of audiovisual arrays, including lighting. Across smart home systems, DMX systems, and built-in SoundSwitch compatibility, limitless beat-synchronized visual feasts are ready to level up your bar, club, event, mobile, wedding, or livestreaming setup.

Note: Using the Rane System One with SoundSwitch and DMX lighting requires additional SoundSwitch-compatible hardware. Please contact your Sweetwater Sales Engineer to learn more.

Best AIO
I have yet to turn on my CDJs since I received this product. This is the best piece of DJing tech to be introduced since the CDJ 2000. With promised continued updates from Engine, this thing can only get better. It's lighter, faster, more aesthetically pleasing (imo), and has a way better and customizable interface.

Basically, if you're looking for a generic GUI made by engineers, where people recognize the name brand, then stick with Pioneer. If you want a controller that was made by DJs, for DJs, is extremely customizable, keeps up and exceeds any competing physical tech or software innovations, AND Is also natively compatible with Rekordbox drives and other major software, choose the System One. As a Pioneer fanboy since 2012, I can honestly say this has made me jump ship. For my wedding DJ LLC, this will be the new daily driver.

However, I do need to say that Pioneer will most likely still have industry control. I'll still keep my CDJs to practice on since I regularly play at clubs in Seattle where I don't want to bring my own gear in. But in ANY other scenario, I'm using the System One.

Never had a Rane before!!!
I'm amazed at this unit. Just got it a couple of days ago, and while I'm writing this review, I'm listening to it. It has many amazing features that surprised me. Now, I did do some research before buying this unit. I've always been partial to Denon or Pioneer. I'm sold. So far, so good. The scratching with the moving heads is amazing. Feels like a Technic turntable. The effects are surprising as well. I would advise anyone with the funds to purchase this. It's worth the money.

Awesome DJ Machine
As someone who began on turntables, I am amazed at the advancements in DJ technology. This piece of equipment is awesome. I recently upgraded from the Denon Prime 2, which is a great machine as well. However, these jog wheels are very reminiscent of my Technics but smaller. The Engine DJ integration works well for me because I am used to it. The integration with Serato will make transitions easier with another DJ that prefers the laptop option. Overall, I am enjoying those machine and plan to get many years of playing on it.
