The Epitome of Surfliner Style

More than just a visual upgrade over the standard Surfliner, Guild’s Surfliner Deluxe fully commits to the offset guitar formula with the surfy sounds of a 2-piece vibrato unit! This unit style hails from the vintage era’s surf and offset guitars, offering an incredibly smooth, gliding vibrato action and a distinct quick-attack, moderate sustain sound. In addition, the Surfliner Deluxe truly lives up to its “Deluxe” designation, boasting a maple neck with sleek block/binding rosewood fingerboard, matched painted headstock, and redesigned control scheme. The rest is all classic Surfliner: the lightweight poplar body is home to an endlessly versatile 3-pickup HSS configuration of a bridge Guild HB-2 humbucker and two DeArmond Aerosonic single-coils to effortlessly cover everything from traditional washed-out surf tones to hard rock swagger and beyond.

Versatile HSS pickup configuration

While this guitar takes inspiration from the surf guitars of the ’60s, the Surfliner Deluxe’s modernized HSS pickup combo can cover almost any style you can throw at it! The Guild HB-2 mini humbucker bridge pickup provides a full, punchy tone that’s equally at home with twangy tremolo picking as it is with fuzzed-out garage rock lead tones. Two Aerosonic pickups in the middle and the neck position bring the single-coil clarity, ideal for players looking to capture more traditional offset-style guitar tones.

Comfortable maple neck

The Surfliner Deluxe sports a beautiful rosewood-on-maple neck that’s loaded with features to deliver a versatile and comfortable playing experience. The 10-inch fingerboard radius is curved enough to deliver both easy open-position playing and wide enough to prevent your bends from choking out when exploring the Surfliner Deluxe’s higher register. Next, the elegant block and binding fingerboard appointments are a serious visual upgrade over the standard Surfliner Deluxe. Finally, the “C” shape neck is sure to make players of all varieties feel right at home when playing the Surfliner Deluxe — it’s the standard guitar neck shape for a reason!

Surfy offset-style vibrato system

While the standard Surfliner features a traditional string-through hardtail bridge, the Surfliner Deluxe fully commits to the offset formula with a 2-piece Guild vibrato unit. Any fan of the classic offset guitars of the ‘60s will find much to love about this reliable vibrato system, sporting a depth that goes from a subtle shimmer to cascading waves of surfy vibrato. Moreover, it’s also a must-have vibrato system for the more alternative-minded musician — after all, it’s the very same unit that defined the gliding strummed chord-vibrato sway of the shoegaze era!

Guild Surfliner Deluxe Electric Guitar Features:

  • Lightweight poplar body in an exceptionally comfortable offset-style design
  • Maple neck in a highly versatile “C” shape
  • Rosewood fingerboard featuring elegant binding and block inlays
  • Narrow jumbo frets in a 10-inch radius are sure to please guitarists of all styles and backgrounds
  • Versatile HSS pickup configuration that covers everything from traditional surf sounds to hard rock to blues and beyond
  • Tune-o-matic bridge with Guild Vibrato system captures the gliding vibrato sounds of both the surf guitar and shoegaze era

Guild Surfliner Delux

Love this guitar, it plays and sounds like a dream. The neck is very smooth and you have a lot of pickup options. You cannot beat this guitar if you are looking for a smooth sound and tremolo bar guitar at this point. An added bonus is that it comes with locking tuners.

Sweet Off-set Guitar!

I have always favored Fender's offset guitars like the Jazzmaster and Jaguar, so when I saw a Guild Surfliner Deluxe model with similar features and some welcomed updates on the retro vibe, I decided to go for it. Wow! Not only does this guitar have great tone, but also nice features like the bound fretboard, large pearled fret markers, and a floating tremolo. The neck is neither too chunky or too small. Locking tuners is a big upgrade from the vintage type. The painted headstock is boss, especially with the cool Guild spaghetti logo. A very good guitar for the price! I couldn't be happier!
Music background: I play surf music...badly.

Don't Think, Just Buy It!

I will be honest, I thought this guitar just looked to good to be true but it has exceeded my highest expectations! First of all, the build quality is outstanding, better than a lot of my guitars costing 4 to 5 times as much. The tones it produces are a constant joy and the playability, once again, far outstrips it's selling price. If this is the new direction of Guild, bring it on!!!

Great Guitar at the Price Point

Let me say the guitar is first and foremost just as gorgeous as you would expect. The setup came in nice, possibly thanks to Sweetwater, but I will say compared to Fender Player Jags it's night and day in terms of setup out of the box.

I really enjoy the pickups. I feel like there is a fairly wide range of tones and it plays nicely with my Studio 1 DAW and Boss Katana.

Overall, I am very happy with this guitar. It's definitely not the best guitar I've ever played nor the best sounding, but at this price point no other offset comes close.

Amazing guitar for the money!

This is my first offset guitar I've owned and it's really great. The build quality and finish are excellent, the neck feels amazing and roasted maple at this price point is a great value. The locking tuners aren't great quality and I think a roller bridge is a better choice than tone-o-matic for this type of vibrato, but otherwise I couldn't have asked for much more. The single-coils sound great, very clear and precise but also very full on the low end. The humbucker is a great inclusion, it's a nice lower output sound that keeps the vintage vibe. I also play a lot of heavier music and I played this in my metal band - the bridge pickup for riffs and such with the neck / middle for solos cuts so well and offers so many different tones at your fingertips. Great guitar for the money!
