Perfect Partner for Your Subway D-800 Head

The Mesa Engineering Subway 1 x 12" bass speaker cabinet pairs up perfectly with the Mesa Subway D-800 bass amp head, giving players the tone of a big bass rig with the benefits of a compact and lightweight design. Sweetwater bassists know how difficult it can be to lug a full bass rig to the show. Transporting the cabinet is a breeze thanks to aviation-style bracing and a custom-made Mesa Subway neodymium 12" speaker, which bring the cab in under 37 lbs. And the Italian poplar construction has Mesa's Tri-port front porting, ensuring your low end is much bigger than you'd expect out of a cabinet this size. The Mesa Subway 1 x 12" bass cabinet is huge tone in a small, lightweight package.

Mesa Engineering Subway Neo 1 x 12" Bass Speaker Cabinet Features:
  • Lightweight bass cabinet for Subway D-800 bass head
  • Tri-port front porting enhances your low end
  • 400-watt, 12" custom Subway neodymium speaker cuts down on weight
  • Variable high-frequency horn
  • Combination speakON/ 1/4" output
  • Slip cover included
  • Important Notice for International Customers: Mesa/Boogie products sold by Sweetwater are intended for use within the United States. We are unable to ship any Mesa/Boogie products outside of the US.
The Subway Neo bass cabinets are small rig convenience, with big rig tone.

Reviews

Just fine
I have in no way run the speaker cabinet through its paces, but it is pleasing so far. Articulate with a nice deep underpinning that even good, small combos don't generate. I don't have a photo of the extra, heavy duty Peavey-type rubber feet I installed but I changed the position of the cabinet to its "tall mode", moved the metal badges to their screw holes for that position, removed the 4 corner brace screws on the new "bottom" side, used 1/4" longer and slightly heftier screws to install the feet. Photo shows cabinet in that mode. I have an Ashdown ORIGINal 300 affixed with small metal mirror clips and small bungie cords to the screws of a stock handle bracket.
Music background: Amateur; college rock/blues bands in my youth.
Big sound small package
I love it sound great, easy to transport and fits in small places
sweet sound.
the cabinet sounds great. the form factor is pleasing. it is great to be able walk into practice with the head over my shoulder, the cabinet in one hand and my bass in the other and still have a rig that hangs with a hard hitting drummer. the only reason i am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is that the mesa badge on the screen was mounted poorly which created a buzz that i originally thought was a speaker problem or a resonance issue. that created some stress and almost sent it back

Mesa Subway 112
I bought a pair of these along with a D800 head from Sweetwater. I played through this rig for several months with fantastic results. Eventually I took only one cab to a gig and was absolutely blown away. These will outperform most 115 cabs. The sound is deep and punchy and you're able to dial in really smooth highs. I play with a 5 piece classic rock/r&b band and it will more than keep up. When you consider the weight, the price, and most of all the quality you can't go wrong.
Music background: Played guitar and bass for 60 years
Little powerhouse
Downsizing from my 8x10 refrigerator.
Chose to get this for ease of travel.

Small, light, loud, crisp, clear, punchy.

This thing with my TT800 has given me the "high definition" sonic quality I've been looking for.

I'll admit, the character of the speaker was hard to adjust to at first, but I really enjoy it

It's hard to imagine a more quintessentially modern guitar amplifier than a Mesa/Boogie, and when Sweetwater guitarists want high-gain tone, Mesa is where they start. One thing we love about these amps is their sheer versatility, such as the massive range of tone you get from each channel, the freedom to use the tubes you love, onboard CabClone cabinet emulation, and MIDI control. And it's not just guitar amps - Mesa/Boogie's bass amps and pedals are equally cool. What's more, thanks to our incredibly close relationship with Mesa, you can even customize your own amp right here on Sweetwater's website! Get the sound and style you want from your next amp, with a Mesa/Boogie from Sweetwater.
