Tom DeLonge’s Single-pickup Signature Pop-Punk Strat Returns

Over 20 years ago, Fender teamed with Tom DeLonge to produce a signature series of now much-sought-after single-pickup Strats. A few bands and Blink-182 reunions later, Fender is proud to (re)launch the Fender Tom DeLonge Stratocaster: that very same guitar and the instrument that defined much of Blink-182’s most revered riffs. From the single volume knob to the alder body’s string-through hardtail bridge, every facet of the Fender Tom DeLonge Stratocaster is primed to take the most exuberant down-stroked power-chord beatings without breaking a sweat. And just like the original, the Fender Tom DeLonge Stratocaster comes complete with a single high-power Seymour Duncan Invader SH-8 pickup — a no-brainer for the Blink-182-style pop-punk tone but also more than versatile enough to cover the subtler, effect-laden textures of Tom’s later works. Lastly, the Fender Tom DeLonge Stratocaster comes complete with all the small things that made the original such a unique instrument, including several high-energy pastel finishes such as Surf Green, Daphane Blue, Garffiti Yellow, and Black. We can't forget to mention that this pop-punk guitar has a sparkling pearloid pickguard and a large ’70s-style headstock atop the rosewood-capped maple neck.

Seymour Duncan Invader humbucker provides pop-punk crunch

Tom’s tonal preference for Seymour Duncan’s SH-8 pickups stretches all the way back to his fan-favorite “Sticker Strat,” which was used on much of Blink-182’s earliest output. The Fender Tom DeLonge Stratocaster carries on that tradition with a single bridge-position Seymour Duncan Invader SH-8 humbucker to kick out everything from raucous pop-punk power chord rhythms to the more subtle sonic textures Tom explores with Angels & Airwaves. It’s a decidedly high-power humbucker, packing three large ceramic magnets, overwound coils, and distinctive metal oxide pole pieces that give you an immense low-end response — perfect for snarling riffs and pop-punk style crunchy chords.

Hardtail bridge for superior stability

A rock-solid 6-saddle, string-through hardtail bridge with block saddles takes the Tom DeLonge Stratocaster’s utilitarian bent even further, forgoing the Strat’s traditional setup for maximum stability. This heavy-duty bridge design accommodates even the most hard-hitting strumming without batting an eye. What’s more, many Sweetwater guitarists praise hardtail Strat designs for their superior sustain and enhanced string-to-body resonance, making it an excellent alternative for players who don’t require a tremolo system.

High-performance Modern “C” neck profile

The Fender Tom DeLonge Stratocaster’s maple neck comes equipped with a slim and fast-playing Modern “C” profile that’s sure to please players of all backgrounds and styles. It’s an ideal crossroads between the chunky Fender neck profiles of yesteryear and modern ultra-high-performance toothpick profiles, giving you a perfect grip that precisely hits the “just-right” mark for many modern players. The slab rosewood fingerboard is loaded with an equally accommodating setup of 21 medium-jumbo frets in a 9.5-inch radius — a formidable combo that provides effortless chording at the base of the neck and an equally comfortable feel when bending up high.

Fender Tom DeLonge Stratocaster Electric Guitar Features:

  • Signature 6-string of pop-punk and alternative icon Tom DeLonge of Blink-182 and Angels & Airwaves
  • Resonant alder body with a string-through hardtail bridge for maximum stability and enhanced tone
  • Maple neck carved into a slim Modern “C” profile for a fast, speedy feel
  • Slab rosewood fingerboard loaded with 21 medium-jumbo frets in a 9.5-inch radius offers slick playability and easy bends across the neck’s entire register
  • Seymour Duncan SH-8 Invader pickup provides an immensely powerful, full-range humbucking tone that’s equally capable of crunchy pop-punk rhythms and cleaner, more nuanced textures
  • A single volume knob with a treble bleed circuit keeps things simple but still provides exceptional tonal flexibility
  • Eye-catching 4-ply pearloid pickguard
  • Vintage-style Fender tuners make changing strings a breeze
  • Signature neck plate with custom Tom DeLonge artwork

Simple Nostalgic Fun

This guitar is so fun to play. Just pick it up and hammer out some power chords or rock out some riffs. I love the simplicity, the look, and the nostalgia of this guitar. I was concerned with quality control issues, but mine from Sweetwater showed up FLAWLESS. I am not a full blown guitar guru by any means, but to me, it is absolutely PERFECT. The Seymour Duncan Invader is a BEAST, but roll back the volume knob and you can play some clean riffs.

So much FUN

I received my TD Signature Strat on 8/11 and right out of the box it's a Blast to play. Almost in tune when I unpacked the guitar and the setup is awesome.

The neck is satin, fast and fun to play. The finish is absolutely beautiful! feels really high quality.

Some really fun tones just using the volume knob to back off the crunch.

Zac Coleman made the buying experience amazing! I felt like Sweetwater's only customer. I was on vacation when the guitar was expected to ship and Zac was able
to hold it for me then ship it so I received it my first day home!

I've seen some negative comments on this guitar online. It may be a bit over priced but if you look at Player series Strats + a great gig bag it's not outrageous. obviously there are more versatile guitars, but if you're buying this you love Blink and pop punk and having FUN playing.

I highly recommend this guitar, in my opinion it doesn't disappoint!

So satisfying

Yeah, it has one pickup and one knob but that's all you need.

I liked the Daphne Blue over the Surf Green and the other colors. The guitar was set up perfectly and sounds great for a whole range of gainy tones (crunch and high gain) and is pretty sweet through a clean amp too.

Buying from Sweetwater is important to me as they inspect the guitar and send the photos beforehand to know exactly what you're getting. In my case, I had a concern on a photo of the neck and they pulled to inspect it a second time to double check it. It's the next best thing to buying a guitar in person.

Thanks to Bob Furlong and Colleen Brickner for taking good care of me.

Replacing an OG

Knew I wanted one when I heard of the reissue. I had sold an OG Daphne blue back around 2007-2008 and always regretted it. Ordered with Joey on release morning and was estimated for a late August eta and to my surprise had it in my hands the first week of August. Got one of the good early ones, beautiful rosewood board, good setup and not far out of tune when unboxed (even got one of the limited edition decals). Reminds me of the OG but I personally like the satin neck better. Glad to have it and would recommend to any pop punk/blink fans or even someone looking for a simple set up tool!

My teenaged self is SCREAMING

I started playing the guitar back in 2001, right around the time the original run of this strat came out. I remember looking through music catalogs and dreaming of one day saving up enough money to buy one in Daphne Blue. Then they were discontinued...

Fast forward to 2023. Tom is back and so is the strat that my 13-year-old self missed out on before. My adult self was not going to let it escape again.

The first run of this model seemed to have been filled with all kinds of QC issues. I just received mine today and I cannot find a single flaw in it. Strings are lined nicely with the neck, frets arenʻt poking out, paint is perfect, the rosewood is not dried out, and the action is perfect.

Shoutout to Sweetwater for ensuring my dream guitar arrived in Hawaiʻi perfectly.

It’s impossible to imagine a world without Fender guitars, and if you’re like many of the guitarists at Sweetwater, then Fender not only made the first guitar you ever bought " they made the last one too! We’re always getting our hands on their latest creations, and there’s nothing we love more than to tell our customers all about them!
