Four Channels of Wireless Freedom

If you want exceptional value in a wireless microphone package, then you need to check out Samson's Stage 412. This 4-channel wireless handheld microphone system makes cutting the cord easy and cost effective, providing you with four independent wireless channels for less than the cost of a typical wireless system. Claim up to 200 feet of wireless freedom thanks to crisp and clean VHF bandwidth, while IR sync makes these systems as easy to set up as anything Sweetwater sound techs have worked with. And whether you're going on the road or just worried about taking your mics onstage, this rugged Stage 412 system, with its metal-bodied Q6 mics, can handle it.

Built to last and made to perform

Many affordable wireless systems cut costs by going cheap on materials, swapping out more robust parts for plastic. Samson avoids that pitfall with the Stage 412 system. The receiver is in a metal chassis, meaning you can toss it in your gear bag or a case and not worry about it getting beat up. The mics themselves are also metal, with tough grilles that can handle getting dropped. Add to that high-quality balanced outputs and sturdy controls, and you have a system that certainly doesn't feel like a budget model.

Frequency-agile VHF operation

When it comes to analog wireless, bandwidth and frequency range aren't all that important. In many cases, how these things are managed is equally, if not more, important. With its frequency-agile technology, the Stage 412 constantly seeks out the cleanest frequency band, ensuring clean and clear transmission. On that note, VHF has changed a lot since the DTV standard went into effect over a decade ago. Where once this wireless range was cluttered and often unusable, today it's a truly reliable option.

Easy to set up, easy to use

With 12 channels to choose from across the 173MHz–198MHz VHF frequency range, you might imagine the Samson Stage 412 handheld wireless microphone system would be a pain to set up. It isn't. In fact, thanks to its IR sync function, setting up is a breeze, allowing you to wirelessly match each mic to a channel almost instantly. From there, you can take full advantage of 200 feet of transmission and up to 10 hours of running time on just a pair of easily replaceable AA batteries.

Samson Stage 412 Wireless Handheld Microphone System Features:

  • Super-convenient, quad handheld VHF wireless system
  • Perfect for small performance spaces, karaoke, presentations, and more
  • Q6 dynamic microphones with integrated transmitters deliver up to 10 hours of operation on 2 AA batteries
  • 12 operating channels across 173MHz–198MHz frequency range
  • IR sync wirelessly matches receiver and transmitter frequency
  • 200-foot line-of-sight operating range
  • Robust metal design easily holds up to live sound conditions
  • Balanced XLR mic and individual 1/4" outputs let you connect to professional sound gear

The Stage 412 did what I needed it to do

The Samson Stage 412 Four-channel Handheld VHF Wireless System Worked well for an outdoor Tent Revival with 3 Bands. It took some extra time beforehand to find 4 channels that didn't interfere with other wireless equipment, but we got there. Also had to reduce the factory-peset gain in each handheld mic to make more headroom for the transmitters to handle the vocalists who really get loud. I'm glad I added them to my collection of mics.

Samson quad wireless mic system great deal for the right situation.

First, the Samson Stage 412 Four-channel Handheld VHF Wireless System is a sturdy, well-made unit. The mics sound good and seem to be reliable. You can't beat the quality for the money! For a band just starting out, with multiple vocalists, it's a great deal. The mics are frequency agile, offering a range of available frequencies for each of the four mic/receiver combinations, so avoiding interference is assured. The method of pairing an individual mic with its receiver is a bit clunky, but manageable. Four individual displays provide channel info, and the mics have color-coded indicators already in place to help keep track of who's on which mic. The system provides THREE balanced XLR mic level outputs (a full quad mix, pair 1&2 and pair 3&4), PLUS individual 1/4-inch unbalanced mic level output jacks, one for each mic.
Each mic transmitter has an onboard gain control to turn down the SPL sensitivity, and they all run well on AA batteries. The receiver unit comes with an outboard power adapter, and Sweetwater offers a spare/backup adapter as well.
For me, coming NOT from the music end but from the Pro Audio end, the system has a few drawbacks. The XLR outputs are quiet enough, but do not fit all situations, especially where separate mic control is crucial.
The unbalanced jacks are useful, but they are somewhat noisy by comparison. Not a problem for rock or metal, but spoken word (e.g., conferences or meetings) requires a lower noise floor. Additionally, I would have preferred (and expected) the 1/4-inch jacks to be LINE or PREAMP level, not MIC level. That would have helped immensely when my mixer ran out of Mic inputs with plenty of line inputs still available. In my experience, pro audio favors low-impedance mics, and so rarely uses unbalanced 1/4-inch connectors. Samson would do well to equip each of those jacks with a mic/line switch to choose the output level etc., to better match their usage.
The jacks on the rear panel of the receiver unit are not marked with such details as level and impedance type as I recall, so you'd better be familiar with the specs before you throw this system into use.
BEWARE: The Samson Stage 412 Four-channel Handheld VHF Wireless System does NOT come with mic holders to fit the four mics!
Given this unfortunate oversight, it would be nice if Sweetwater were able to suggest holders (and patch cables) to match this system when you check it out on their website. Make sure you research appropriate holders and cables if you go for the system. I had to forego using this system when it arrived, until I could order those ancillary -- and very necessary -- items.
Finally, it would be nice if Sweetwater could suggest a carry-case to fit the system AND its four mics. You probably don't want to carry the original box around to your gigs, and you REALLY don't want to just throw it into a road case with other stuff, so a case that will actually fit and protect it is almost essential.
Of course, these items will add a bit to the overall cost.

If you pull it all together, the Samson Stage 412 Four-channel Handheld VHF Wireless System will serve you well in the right situation. It's a quality system at a great price. Make sure it fits your particular needs and you won't be disappointed, I'm sure.

Hit and miss

Firstly, I don't write many reviews on products that I've used first hand and I like to see how things work after at least one year of use.
We purchased this system for mobile dj use, and at first I was very pleased with their performance. After several uses I started noticing audio drop outs. I've tried changing channels with no improvement. I maybe looking for a different system soon.

Mics cut out

I've had to send this unit back three times. Finally gave up and bit the bullet and purchased a different system. A constant headache to do a show and the constantly loses RF signal and cuts out. Go with a Vocopro or Seismic Audio if you're looking for a cheaper system that actually works. Love Sweetwater but they failed me on this one.
