High-performance Construction and Electronics

The Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S solidbody electric guitar is a great choice for players looking for a guitar that pushes their technical limits while boasting the features and design to keep up with their every note. The guitar's classic styling recalls some of the best super-style instruments in history. And while an EMG Retro Active humbucking pickup delivers active clarity and passive dynamics, the neck-position Sustainiac pickup offers three voices of unending tone. Also, the Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S's exclusive Hot Rod Floyd Rose tremolo offers precise tuning and pitch control.

Hot-rodded construction

Inspired by suped-up and highly modified rock guitars, the Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S solidbody electric guitar exudes a no-nonsense, high-performance attitude. Its black pickguard, hardware, and electronics sit on a comfortable S-style mahogany body. A bolt-on hard rock maple neck features a fast thin "C" neck contour and a 24-fret, 14"-radius fretboard. And the Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S's neck heel is beautifully contoured, allowing unrestricted access to the guitar's highest frets.

Incredibly powerful electronics

Schecter tapped EMG Pickups and the Sustainiac company to supply the Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S's horsepower. EMG's Retro Active humbucker utilizes a specially designed active preamp system and passive-style coils for a tone that boasts vintage clarity with modern power. The neck-position Sustainiac humbucking pickup effortlessly delivers infinite sustain and thick feedback with the flip of a switch. And a simple-to-use 2-knob control layout works in conjunction with the 3-way blade switch to access a wide variety of tones.

Schecter-exclusive Floyd Rose trem

Schecter and Floyd Rose have partnered to bring you the Floyd Rose Hot Rod double-locking tremolo for a new level of control and stability. Floyd Rose has long been one of the best double-locking tremolo sellers at Sweetwater. And the Hot Rod is a specialized take on their iconic design that you will only find on select Schecter guitars. The addition of this trem is another appointment that prepares the Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S solidbody electric guitar for your best playing.

Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Super-style electric guitar with top-quality components
  • Schecter-exclusive Floyd Rose Hot Rod locking tremolo system
  • Sustainiac neck humbucker sounds great and accesses amazing tonal territory
  • Clear and dynamic EMG Retro Active humbucking bridge pickup
  • Mahogany body with hard rock maple neck
  • Contoured neck joint offers great high-fret access

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

So much fun to play

You can play any type of music with this guitar. I've had compliments about how nice it is in person. I picked up 4 batteries and a charger so I always have a charged battery for the sustaniac. You can tell when the factory battery goes low but it really sounds like a humbucker when it's low. I would buy 1 more of these just to have an extra one. I covers classic rock to metal and shred. Great guitar and well worth the money. Thanks again Cory Medina Sales Engineer for saving one of these for me. Cory went above and beyond customer service expectations ! I had no intention of getting a Floyd Rose and Sustaniac but I am really glad that I did. If you can get one, you won't be disappointed.

Fun Guitar at a great value

I own about 20 guitars. I do have a Fernandes shredder type with a sustainer. However, when I tried this one out- I could not put it down. The sustaniac is much better, and reacts faster. And it has three modes - normal, blended, and harmonic. The neck is super comfortable (think Charvel) and you can get the action pretty low with the 14 inch radius. The EMGs are more passive sounding for active pickups, and really sound nice with gain (from normal to modern). Cleans are just passable, but that is not why I bought this. It's equipped with a Floyd Rose Special, which I know is not the high end version, but it does the trick for me. But otherwise, the quality is top notch for a guitar in this price range. I could not find any flaws in the workmanship (finish, frets, etc.). The sustainiac is a ton of fun, whether you want to do some ethereal sounds with a volume pedal and stacked delays, or if you want to play the end of Cemetary Gates (and it will do that). You may drive your spouse nuts like me, so be warned.

Perfect value for this price point

I have about 16 guitars and most of them are high end (e.g. $3000+). NONE of them come close to the value you get for your money as with a Schecter Sun Valley. If you do buy one from Sweetwater and you don"t know how to setup a guitar properly, pay for their setup service. This guitar feels solid and playability is very high. My main observations are that the Floyd Rose trem micro tuners are very stiff and there is no tone knob. The trem bar sits stably in the socket; there is no wobble to it. If you like to play Satch stuff, this guitar will give you his crazy pinch harmonics and trem tricks without the need to oversaturate your signal, thanks to the Sustainiac system. Despite the absence of a tone knob, the pickups are calibrated in such a way that you could forget about needing it with some simple amp tweaks. The mahogany body definitely helps give the sound a warm tone. I wish they would do neck binding on the next generation for this guitar and implement a low profile Floyd trem. I wouldn"t mind fancier tops on these as well (e.g., quilted maple). Fret finish is decent for this price point. I was able to dial in a pretty low action without fret buzz but your mileage may vary. I do plan to buy more of these in the future. The price is just right for where it stands. To conclude, this is mostly a hard rock to metal guitar. Do not expect "chimery" cleans. Although the clean sound is still very decent, it won"t replace your Strat or Tele. However, this is the best bang for your buck if you like to shred.
