High-performance Construction and Electronics

The Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S solidbody electric guitar is a great choice for players looking for a guitar that pushes their technical limits while boasting the features and design to keep up with their every note. The guitar's classic styling recalls some of the best super-style instruments in history. And while an EMG Retro Active humbucking pickup delivers active clarity and passive dynamics, the neck-position Sustainiac pickup offers three voices of unending tone. Also, the Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S's exclusive Hot Rod Floyd Rose tremolo offers precise tuning and pitch control.

Hot-rodded construction

Inspired by suped-up and highly modified rock guitars, the Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S solidbody electric guitar exudes a no-nonsense, high-performance attitude. Its black pickguard, hardware, and electronics sit on a comfortable S-style mahogany body. A bolt-on hard rock maple neck features a fast thin "C" neck contour and a 24-fret, 14"-radius fretboard. And the Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S's neck heel is beautifully contoured, allowing unrestricted access to the guitar's highest frets.

Incredibly powerful electronics

Schecter tapped EMG Pickups and the Sustainiac company to supply the Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S's horsepower. EMG's Retro Active Hot 70 humbucker utilizes a specially designed active preamp system and passive-style coils for a tone that boasts vintage clarity with modern power. The neck-position Sustainiac humbucking pickup effortlessly delivers infinite sustain and thick feedback with the flip of a switch. And a simple-to-use 2-knob control layout works in conjunction with the 3-way blade switch to access a wide variety of tones.

Schecter-exclusive Floyd Rose trem

Schecter and Floyd Rose have partnered to bring you the Floyd Rose Hot Rod double-locking tremolo for a new level of control and stability. Floyd Rose has long been one of the best double-locking tremolo sellers at Sweetwater, and the Hot Rod is a specialized take on their iconic design that you will only find on select Schecter guitars. The addition of this trem is another appointment that prepares the Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S solidbody electric guitar for your best playing.

Killer guitar!

I bought it primarily for the Sustainiac, but after playing for 30 years and owning many guitars, this was also my first with a floating Floyd. I had some pre-conceived notions about Schecter for whatever reasons but those were silly, this is a great guitar and I would recommend it to anyone who's interested.

Pros:
-Amazingly smooth C shaped neck, a tad thicker than I expected but so impressed with the sanding and almost glassy smooth texture to the neck. The ebony fretboard is nice and dark (and fast), with no stabby frets anywhere. Great craftsmanship, here!
-Upgraded components to the Floyd, both functional and eye catching.
-The Sustainiac is the best feature I've ever had on a guitar. E-bows are cool but are a total pain, and easily lost. A lot harder to lose this one. All three modes are very useful and don't take a ton of monkeying with to understand how it can work.
-Leaving the Sustainiac on during clean arpeggiating or with chords is awesome. It's similar to a doubleneck guitar effect where the top 12 string is left on when tuned to an open tuning while you're actually playing the lower 6 string - you can get really ambient and sympathetic droning harmonic overtones, especially with wet effects in your FX loop to supplement. The absolute hidden gem of this guitar. Subtle, but still very "there." I wish I had this when I was in my band days and recording.
-The birch green color is fabulously ridiculous. Or ridiculously fabulous? It's completely out of control, it's so loud. And awesome. So much brighter in person than in pics or Youtube vids.

Cons:
-Using a floating Floyd meant a learning curve on stretching strings even more than I ever used to. Despite plenty of torque on both locking ends, strings were still slipping after whammy use and knocking it out of tune. Eventually rectified, so more of an indictment on me than the guitar I suppose?
-The EMGs aren't as hot as I prefer for what I play (take a guess). They're voiced a little more vintage, but I was disappointed that they don't clean up as dynamically as passives do when you roll back on the volume knob. I like doing that for clean sounds but I found with this guitar it's best to switch amp channels for clean sounds. The neck pickup is quite a bit better than I expected and very useful, but it can't be used in conjunction with the Sustainiac.
-The Sustainiac switches are a little delicate. They don't feel cheap per se but I've knocked them loose pretty easily. The switch nuts will need frequent tightening.
-I'd recommend buying a box of 9v batteries on Amazon to have on hand. They're cheap and worth it, because you WILL forget and leave the Sustainer on and it WILL be dead when you pick it up next. You WILL do this more than twice, and it WILL annoy you. It's not as simple as just unplugging the guitar, it has its own independent on/off switch that requires a bit of a brain-train.

Really impressive guitar emg retro it's a blast and for the sustaniac you gotta get used but when you did it's really versatile plus the Floyd let flow your creativity.

Great guitar with so many features

Awesome tone from the EMG bridge and Sustainiac Neck. Floyd rose is perfect and feels like the OG models. Neck is a thing of beauty that feels amazing while shredding. It has a nice snappy tone response and came I tune and ready to rock. This has 70s rock and metal tone so if your a modern style player I would swap the bridge pickup for something more metal. shout out to my amazing sales rep Brad Jones for helping me out.

Very fun guitar

Consistently stays in tune, unless you do really deep dive bombs with the whammy bar. Sustainiac offers a ton of new possibilities I did not consider attemptable, and the EMG pickup in the bridge sounds great. I know a number of reviews said that it was too crunchy for clean sounds, but mine plays cleans perfectly clearly without any issues.

My whole family mocked my choice of green color, but I like it anyways.
