Thick, Sinister Fuzz with Three Voices

Designed in collaboration with a well-known top-hatted musical icon, the MXR Slash Octave Fuzz is, in a word, thick. This scorching-hot stompbox includes not one, not two, but three different voices that add undeniable girth to your tone. Summon dense, '70s-style shag fuzz with the Sub Into Fuzz switch. Inject thunderous low-end growl into your playing with the Sub Octave control. Conjure up psychedelic high-frequency grind with the Octave Up knob. You also get top-panel Volume, Tone, and Fuzz knobs for your main voice, plus internal Gain and Tone trim pots for the pedal’s Octave Up voice. The excellent-sounding Slash Octave Fuzz boasts all-analog circuitry, true hard-wired bypass switching, a heavy-duty housing with Slash’s “Skully” logo, and an eye-grabbing distressed hot-rod finish.

Wide-ranging tweakability for an endless array of fuzz-drenched effects

The Slash Octave Fuzz offers enough wide-ranging tweakability to keep you occupied for a weekend and then some. Plug in, and you can adjust the level of your dry tone with the Volume knob. Engage the Sub Into Fuzz switch, and you’ll be greeted by a ‘70s-style fuzz that you can shape with the top-panel Volume, Tone, and Fuzz controls. Turning the Sub Octave knob clockwise increases the level of the Slash Octave Fuzz’s low-frequency voice, which adds loads of low-end growl to your sound. Turning the Octave Up control clockwise increases the volume of the stompbox’s psychedelic-tinged, high-frequency grindage, which you can sculpt with internal Gain and Tone trim pots. The guitarists here at Sweetwater have produced a myriad of tones with the Slash Octave Fuzz, using various combinations of the pedal’s main, Sub Octave, and Octave Up voices, then molding them using the onboard sound-sculpting controls. We’ve combined light octave-up fuzz with our dry signal for vintage-style overdrive effects; we’ve mustered thick, soupy sounds by combining heavy sub-octave fuzz with our dry signal. And we’ve shaken the rafters by combining all three fuzz voices into a high-decibel wall of fuzz-drenched sludge.

Reviews

Fat, fuzzy, and tons of character!
This pedal is just insane! It's definitely a secret weapon in the studio. If you wanna lay into a riff and give some single note runs some weight and balls. This bad boy has so much character and it's not your run of the mill octave fuzz. What's nice you really have a lot of options. If you don't want any octave you can roll it off and you have a great fuzz box! It's very fun and inspiring to play. You can get those ballsy octave fuzz effects with the sub octave and the Octavio effects with the high octave. Great for solos too for some wild and crazy sounds. Great pedal!

I know it is the Slash model, But Igot it because it is both a suboctave plus up octave with Fuzz. You van find other octave fuzzes that may accomplish similar things, but liked the features for the price. The octave up is a little noisey, and I haven't found use for the sub into fuzz yet, but I like that they are there.

Now for the fun stuff. Turn the dry signal (volume) up, and put the sub up about halfway or so, and rock out some Zeppelin. Wanton Song, Black Dog, Houses of the Holy, Fool in the Rain, Out on the Tiles, instantly awesome. Loads of others get a little "crunchy" and more authentic.

Slash, I have no idea where you actually use an octave fuzz, but thank you for endorsing thhis pedal.
