Slash's Signature Tone with Extra-hot Output

The Seymour Duncan Slash 2.0 humbucker takes the top-hatted one's signature APH-2 pickup and ups the ante with a hotter wind for hard-hitting performance in live applications. Loaded with an Alnico II magnet, the Slash 2.0 delivers the same soft high-end attack and low-string pull as its predecessor, along with a warm, extra-sweet sound that's thick, smooth, and offers near-endless sustain. The guitarists here at Sweetwater appreciate the excellent, handbuilt quality of the Slash 2.0. If you're searching for a way to push your amp with a fine-tuned balance of volume, drive, and compression, it's so easy with Seymour Duncan Slash 2.0 pickups.

Seymour Duncan Slash 2.0 Humbucker Pickup Set Features:

  • Based on Slash's signature APH-2 humbucker, but with a hotter wind
  • Alnico II magnet delivers the same soft high-end attack and low-string pull as its predecessor
  • Yields a warm, extra-sweet sound that's thick, smooth, and sustaining
  • Serves up a fine-tuned balance of volume, drive, and compression that excels in live applications

Reviews

Was on the fence initially....
Long time SD user, got my first A2Pro set back in '94. Anyways, fast forward to now, I recently had a private luthier up in Canada (that had also built a few guitars for Richard Fortus) build the most accurate Derrig clone possible and we even sourced some Old Growth Hard Rock Sugar Ribbon Maple from upstate NY that had been in a woodworker's stash for more than forty years. Paired that up with Honduras Mahoghany and Brazillian Board and all the right glue and finsh... anyways, the hardest part was deciding which set to go with, do I hunt down actual 1986's wound by MJ, go with standard A2Pro, go with the Slash Set, go with WIZZ AFD, go with Jonsey Blues' Bon Appetit, and then after trying ALL of these options, this new Slash 2.0 set shows up.
So here is the cool part, as much as I wasn't expecting a real difference in swapping over, this new 2.0 set is exactly the sound, feel and sustain I was after the whole time! There is a touch of really good Low End that I can hear over the other sets and the great part is when you roll back for Cleans, they remain full and articulate just like what you hear on the albums. With the other sets, the cleans were good but thinner sounding. BTW I am playing thru a Levi Superkill Modded #34 1980 JMP 2203 100 Watt Marshall just like Slash, and finally the tone is spot on! Don't think twice about getting these if you feel yours aren't exactly nailing the sound!

Got these to swap out the stock burstbuckers. Not that those sound bad, just experimenting with tones and man these things are HOT!! Great pups so far.
Great pickups
I got these from another online retailer because it was a present about 6 months back. I planned to put these slash SD 2,0's in a unchambered Les Paul studio I have. Instead I put them in my new Gibson LP standard. Ok, I'm playing these through either a jcm 900 or a jcm 2000. At first I did not like the bridge pickup but loved the neck. The bridge pickup is really hot and it can easily sound " thuddy" quite easily with too much gain. Sooo I back the gain down to about 7-8 o'clock on both heads and BAM!!!the tone is just gnarly in these things!!! Super chunk. I'd recommend these all day.

Slash 2.0 pick ups.
I had these put in my Les Paul custom pretty recently, and got rid of the stock pick ups. These made a HUGE difference in terms of sound and clarity. Before my custom sounded pretty muddy through my AFD 100, and now it sounds perfect. For passive pick ups I was surprised at how hot they sound. My order was a custom ordered set since I wanted the black chrome covers on them (shout out to Derek Kemp for making the process so easy).
