Shape Your Tone with Precision

Use the MXR Six Band EQ Pedal to fine-tune your guitar or bass tone for any situation, or use it as a sculptable boost for leads and solos. However you use it, the low-noise circuitry keeps your core tone intact, while six EQ sliders allow you to add or cut up to 18dB. Create mid-scooped rhythm tones, cut unnecessary bass for a cleaner sound, or add warmth and remove quack from acoustic-electric guitars. Built with rugged aluminum and featuring true bypass switching, the MXR Six Band EQ Pedal is a fine addition to any pedalboard.

Enough gain to use as a boost

When you're looking for a way to boost your tone, but want more flexibility than a traditional boost pedal allows, Sweetwater recommends checking out an EQ pedal like the MXR Six Band EQ Pedal. With 18dB of cut/boost available on each slider, you can boost just the frequencies you want. Maybe you want a full-range tone as your base, but want to boost your mids for certain sections. With the MXR Six Band EQ Pedal, you can shape your boost to fit into any mix.

MXR Six Band EQ Pedal Features:

  • 6-band graphic EQ pedal for guitar and bass
  • Each slider offers 18dB of cut/boost
  • Low-noise circuitry and true bypass switching
  • Rugged aluminum housing, with bright LED indicators on the sliders
  • Perfect for removing unwanted frequencies, fighting feedback, balancing your tone, and much more
What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

The perfect boost pedal
This pedal is perfect to push the front end of your amp. You can nudge every slider up a little bit until you get that perfect boost for lead. You can also fix frequencies from your guitar if you need so it is better than a simple boost pedal. I also use it as an always-on EQ for cutting low end when I am using two drive pedals. A tube screamer gives the rhythm tone I want, a Blues Driver is set for a lead tone, the MXR is set to cut some low end and possibly adjusted if there is a problem with other frequencies. I could not live without this on my board.

The blues are my favorite color
I received the MXR alkalizer a few weeks ago, and I am extremely happy with this device are use this in conjunction with another pedal for harmonica playing. It helps me hear certain frequencies that otherwise I would have it more difficult time hearing one more pedal to go in daisy chain is complete for my needs so it's really nice to have that light turned down. I love the blue color on the Dial says well when the lights are low produces a nice atmosphere kind of like looking at cop cars in the night time. What a beautiful color ha ha ha ha ha ha
MXR Eq
I purchased the EQ through Sweetwater, after it arrived I connected with my rep there, he guided me with the installation and placement on my pedal board, his guidance was excellent and the product really helped me to achy the sound I was after. Thumbs up to Sweetwater!!

My New Secret Weapon
After watching some rig rundown videos (Tom Bukovac), it became obvious that an eq pedal was what I was looking for.

I've been a disciple of the TS sound forever, usually I just leave it on, but have always had issues pairing a lead tone with the TS. I love the presence in a live mix that I get with a TS, and find that when I would go in to a lead and kick on a higher gain pedal, my presence in my bands mix would be gone.

I just added this 6 band eq to my board, placed after the TS (TS side of the JHS Sweet Tea V2) and wow, what a difference. I have it set in a way where it doesn't change the sonic space I occupy with my band, doesn't really change my tone that much, but just gives a little extra in the mids/highs, gets rid of any flobby low end and gives me an extra gear to come forward in the mix a bit.

Great build quality, very quiet, inexpensive, love the blue LED's on the faders. Could not me happier with my purchase. A+
Music background: Played regular gigs when there were gigs
Top notch performance at a good price
The perfect accessory to a tube amp. Create your own second channel. Change the tone, push the front end of the amp into subtle to searing overdrive. I love this pedal, with my amps 2 channels this gives me 4 different sounds just by stepping on a couple of footswitches.

I didn't know I needed the MXR Six Band EQ pedal until I picked one up. I use it kind of like a boost pedal to add the extra punch I need for solos, without messing with the mix by adding a ton of gain. The backlit faders are a real bonus too, especially when when I play under less-than-ideal stage lighting.
