Designed for Maximum Versatility and Performance

If you’ve ever seen one of Rob Scallon’s videos, you know how much sonic ground he needs his guitars to cover — it’s not abnormal to see him go from scorching meme metal crunch to introspective Midwest-emo inspired cleans in a matter of minutes on his “Album in a Day” series with Andrew Huang. With that in mind, it's really no surprise that the Schecter C-8 Multi-scale Rob Scallon 8-string electric guitar is a truly do-it-all instrument, more than up to the challenge of keeping up with Rob's wide-ranging musical requirements. The C-8 Multi-scale Rob Scallon boasts a beautifully understated swamp ash body and neck-through mahogany 3-piece neck, with carbon fiber reinforcement rods for unyielding stability. Two Schecter Diamond ’78 Rob Scallon pickups bring the PAF punch but are adapted and modified to Rob's need for greater tonal flexibility. What’s more, a Hipshot Hardtail bridge and Hipshot Grip-Lock tuners offer an incredible level of tuning stability and versatile performance — a prerequisite when your days typically include djenting through a modular synth one minute, then cranking out Metallica’s entire catalog in a 4-minute video in the next!

High-performance neck-through design

The core of the C-8 Multi-scale Rob Scallon is the incredible 3-piece mahogany neck, supercharged with several high-performance specs as per Rob’s request. First off, the neck-through design significantly increases both resonance and sustain, while the carbon fiber reinforcement rods keep your neck straight and true. A 25.5–27-inch scale length allows both ends of the C-8's tonal spectrum to shine — ideal for Rob's frequent ventures into down-tuned djent chug. Finally, a sleek ebony fingerboard sports a flat 20-inch radius and medium jumbo frets that make even the widest of bends a breeze.

Dual Diamond ’78 Rob Scallon humbuckers

To meet Rob’s versatile sonic requirements, the C-8 Multi-scale Rob Scallon comes loaded with a ’78 Special Rob Scallon bridge pickup and a Diamond ’78 Rob Scallon neck pickup for a PAF-style humbucker tone, but with a modern twist. These pickups are capable of some seriously heavy tonal lifting, offering the sparkling cleans of tracks like “Rain” while still retaining the ability to switch to full-on metal aggression during Rob’s heavier moments. Diamond '78 pickups are a perfect pair for the C-8’s extended range, producing a fierce amount of low-end aggression while always remaining clear and present. Plus, this C-8 boasts a dialed-down utilitarian control scheme, with a single push/pull volume, tone, and 3-way switch.

Driving music content innovation since 2007

Since 2007, Rob Scallon has been setting the standard for YouTube music content creators, producing everything from banjo-infused metal covers to an educational series on little-known world instruments. While Rob’s innovative videos frequently wander into the absurd, the electric guitar is never far from his reach, providing the backbone of his idiosyncratic music interests. In fact, Rob’s visit to Sweetwater inspired him to collaborate with us on the world’s largest pedalboard, a massive setup that included 319 pedals through 7 amplifier stacks — played by Rob himself!

Schecter C-8 Multi-scale Rob Scallon Electric Guitar Features:

  • 8-string multi-scale guitar designed to Rob Scallon’s specs for maximum versatility and performance
  • Swamp ash body with an arched top contour delivers a beautiful resonance
  • 3-piece mahogany neck with a neck-through design and carbon fiber reinforcement rods for unparalleled sustain and durability
  • Jet-black ebony fingerboard features 24 jumbo frets in a flat 20-inch radius for easy bends and comfortable tapping
  • 25.5–27-inch multi-scale design allows both ends of the C-8’s tonal spectrum to shine
  • Hipshot Hardtail bridge and Hipshot Grip-Lock tuners deliver unyielding tuning stability
  • Dual custom Schecter Diamond ’78 Rob Scallon pickups produce a PAF-style humbucker tone with a modern twist

Why Buy Your Guitar from Sweetwater?

See how Sweetwater goes to great lengths to give you the very best online guitar buying experience. From our online Guitar Gallery that allows you to see and select the exact instrument you want to our 55-point Inspection process and our in-house guitar techs, we take the guesswork out of buying your next guitar online.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Pretty Cool Guitar

I bought this just for something different to mess around with. I can say that the eighth string takes the guitar far more into the territory of being a different kind of instrument than a seven-string guitar is. Seven strings really do play more or less like a guitar with one lower string, but this is dabbling very much into having a bass and guitar combined into one instrument.

Not to worry though! Due to the multiscale, the six traditional strings play just like any other guitar. And maybe it's a product of having the neutral (straight) fret at the seventh rather than twelfth fret, but I didn't have to get used to the fan frets really at all. I pulled it out of the box, and the first thing I tried was ignoring the low B and F# and using it just as a six string guitar. Really wasn't awkward at all.

Build quality is great. It feels like a high end instrument, so no complaints there.

I'd highly recommend it if you are curious about trying extended range, multiscale guitars.
Music background: Semi-pro guitarist since the late 90s.

Best 8 string I’ve Ever Played

First and foremost thank you to my sales engineer Braden for taking care of me as always! The guitar was flawless and the set up was perfect.

This thing absolutely rips. The neck is the most comfortable extended range Guitar neck I've played. The satin finish and stainless frets make playing this thing a very enjoyable experience. I play everything from post rock to djent and Metalcore and the pick ups just work. When you spilt the coils you almost get an 8 string strat. It's wild. I honestly can't say enough positive things about this. I researched a new 8 string for probably 3 months before getting this one. The real magic is having the neutral fret at 7. This means the top frets are almost neutral so chords are super easy and chugs are even easier. The multi scale after 7 makes riffing very easy, even for an 8 string.
Music background: Playing since 2005, bedroom studio and the occasional gig

Everything you could think you needed!

I've watched Rob's videos for years, and his versatile content extends through, over and under this guitar!

First off, it is so comfortable to play. The satin finish on the neck allows for quick and fluid movement. Even with the most heavy option, it is so lightweight with the swamp ash wings. I love the idea of moving the neutral fret on this fanned fret guitar. Everything just makes sense and feels amazing.

The pickups encompass a wide range of styles and tones from heavy djent to jazz. With the option to split the coils, anyone can find what they need out of this guitar. I typically play heavy, djent style riffs, and this guitar soars over my others. It even outshines my HSS that I specifically use for a more strat-style tone.

I chose the 8 string version, because more strings and lower tunings. But this guitar, it's what you want, no matter what you want.

Rob and Schecter made a killer line with this one. There's hundreds of other good things to say from the hardware choices and design, but just buy one. You're not going to regret it!
