Looks and Tone Inspired by Marshall’s Early Days

A 2 x 12-inch tribute to the era when Marshall first solidified itself as one of rock’s most iconic amp builders, the Studio JTM is a world-class 130-watt extension cab that will make the most of your favorite tube head. This immaculately crafted cab is handbuilt in England, boasting a premium finger-jointed plywood enclosure, supple levant covering, and a charming old-school solid metal “coffin” logo that calls to mind Jim Marshall’s first tube amp creations. Inside the closed-back design lies a pair of Celestion G12M-65 Creambacks, providing a higher-power spin on the vintage Celestion speaker that set the sonic formula for rock’s overdriven revolution in the mid-1960s. It’s the perfect cab for your Studio JTM amp, but you’d be hard-pressed to find an amp with which the Studio JTM doesn’t excel!

Vintage-inspired Celestion G12M-65 Creamback speakers

Originally released amid rock’s mid-1960s revolution, the Celestion G12M Creamback found in many a vintage Marshall amplifier helped define the sound of the burgeoning blues-rock scene. It’s arguably Celestion’s most prized ceramic magnet speaker, gracing the records of countless all-time greats, including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck. The Marshall Studio JTM cabinet’s dual G12M-65 speakers retain the same vocal-like midrange, creamy highs, and aggressive overdriven tone of the original, only with a significantly higher power rating and a slightly improved low-end response to better suit the modern guitarist. For players who clamor for the raw and organic dirty tones that set the stage for Marshall’s dominance of the classic rock era, Sweetwater guitarists agree: the Celestion G12M-65 speaker is tough to top.

Marshall Studio JTM Features:

  • Inspired by the early days of Marshall amplification
  • Dual Celestion G12M-65 Creamback speakers deliver the raw and organic tone that fueled the mid-1960s blues-rock revolution
  • Closed-back design supplies a deep, punchy bass response
  • A perfect pairing for the Marshall ST20H Studio JTM amplifier head
  • Premium finger-jointed plywood enclosure, with handsome levant covering, gold piping and beading, and the old-school Marshall “coffin” logo
  • Handbuilt in Marshall’s UK-based factory

Reviews

Worth the wait
Waited a while for this cabinet to arrive because of the recent Marshall delays - it was worth it. It sounds great in the room and records well, too. Before it arrived, I was skeptical about the angled 2x12 design but I've run my ST20H, my SV20H, and my Deluxe Rvb through it and it shines with all of them. The 65w Creambacks take the edge off but still have plenty of clarity and harmonic richness. No fizziness. They do a great job producing big, slightly overdriven vintage sounds and they also hold together well with more distortion or fuzz. It's a keeper!
Marshall ST 212
I got this to match an SV20H Sweetwater had this at the same price as the sv212 for black Friday. I couldn't not buy it. As usual Mike Arango was a huge help and got this to me super fast. Thanks again Mike. The sound is huge and the Friedman sounds great through it as well. Very happy with this set up.
Music background: Playing til I go deaf

There are countless "British"-style guitar amplifiers out there, but take it from the lifelong guitarists and tone connoisseurs at Sweetwater, when it comes to Marshall tone, there's nothing like the real thing. We've played them all, from vintage JTM45s and the ultra-cool Plexi reissue to modern handmade masterpieces such as the JVM410. There isn't a model among them we can't recommend with total confidence, and that includes their more affordable models too, like MG, DSL, and Code series amps. Thanks to our tight relationship with Marshall, Sweetwater's always on the cutting edge of their latest designs, custom models, and limited-edition gems. If you want iconic tone from across the pond, you want Marshall, and your Sweetwater Sales Engineer will help you find the perfect one.
