Modern Semi-hollow from D’Angelico
D’Angelico reintroduces their popular Deluxe SS — a sonically, visually, and ergonomically entrancing semi-hollowbody electric guitar that’s tailor-made for modern guitarists. The Deluxe SS arms you with all you need for everything from competent jazz comping to howling rock aggression. This axe is a bona fide multitasker. A pair of Seymour Duncan STK P-90s gives this single-cut all the smooth neck pickup tones and treble position bite of a great set of P-90s, but without any hum due to the stacked construction. From a playability perspective, its center-blocked laminate-mahogany body increases sustain and resonance for a sweetness you can feel throughout your whole body as you perform. Its 3-piece maple-walnut neck boasts a comfortable "C" shape and comes capped with a liquid-smooth ebony fingerboard for tremendous stability. D'Angelico's attention-grabbing art deco appointments add even more to the Deluxe SS's impressive presentation — this modern semi-hollow is in a league of its own!

Fast 3-piece neck with glassy ebony fingerboard
Playing the Deluxe SS is sheer delight. Its 3-piece maple-walnut neck boasts a comfortable "C" profile, and its satin finish supplies the perfect blend of grip and ease of movement. Its 12-inch-radius ebony fingerboard features 22 medium-jumbo Jescar frets to facilitate comfortable chording and technically demanding lead work. The instrument’s easy hand feel is a byproduct of its 25-inch scale length, which makes bends and vibrato feel effortless. All the while, its single-cutaway body shape gives you optimized high-register access. For rock-solid tuning stability, the Deluxe SS is equipped with Grover Super Rotomatic Locking 14:1 tuners, while a GraphTech TUSQ nut bolsters sustain and eliminates string binding.
Buck the hum with stacked STK P-90s
The D’Angelico Deluxe SS comes loaded with a set of stacked STK P-90 pickups. Double P-90s in an archtop represent one of the most classic guitar configurations in history, capable of both the pristinely warm cleans and biting treble tones that defined the early days of rock 'n' roll, blues, and jazz guitar. What's more, Seymour Duncan's stacked construction provides a completely hum-free experience when using the STK P-90s — even in high-gain applications!
The D’Angelico legacy
After mastering his craft during an 18-year apprenticeship, luthier John D’Angelico opened his shop in Manhattan’s Little Italy in 1932. Catering to New York’s many jazz musicians over the ensuing three decades, D’Angelico and a single apprentice became New York’s foremost stringed-instrument builders, creating over 1,000 treasured archtop guitars until John’s death in 1964. After his passing, D’Angelico’s legacy lived on only through his rare, legendary instruments. After decades, the D’Angelico brand has resurfaced, bringing back the playability and attention to detail of the company’s New York roots. Today, Sweetwater is delighted to offer this fine line of distinguished instruments. D’Angelico uses state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and the finest available materials to create playable works of art for today’s guitarist. From a modest shop in Little Italy to the world stage, D’Angelico’s dedication to quality craftsmanship ensures that this brand won’t be going dormant again any time soon.
