Eye-catching Electric Bass with Stellar Tone

The Ibanez SR600E electric bass is a no-nonsense machine with an eye-catching design and quality craftsmanship. Featuring a resonant, lightweight ash body with a satin finish, this bass kicks out stellar tone. The 5-piece jatoba/walnut neck with rosewood fingerboard is incredibly playable and responsive, great for laying down solid grooves. A pair of Nordstrand Big Break pickups also gives you a variety of sounds to explore. Round it out with custom Ibanez electronics and a 3-band EQ, and you get a full-force 4-string bass that's perfect for any playing situation you can imagine.

Big Break pickups for massive sound

Designed by renowned pickup builder Carey Nordstrand, Nordstrand Big Break pickups pump out powerful aggression and grit when used with the SR600E. By cramming a split-coil into a soapbar-style pup, Big Break pickups produce a massive, full-bodied sound while still retaining the clarity and character of a single-coil. Sweetwater bassists love the added benefit of noiseless operation for cleaner tone, and you will, too.

Responsive neck made to play

Constructed using a 5-piece jatoba/walnut neck topped with a rosewood fingerboard, the SR600E’s beautifully smooth and responsive neck is ideal for fast runs, smooth grooves, and chugging pick-driven attack. The 34-inch scale length and 24 medium frets on the SR600E feel great and sound even better; plus, the addition of an Accu-cast B500 bridge lends stellar sustain and tone support to any style of play.

This is a solid, quality bass

I haven't owned a bass since the 90's--some sort of Ibanez RB series. For the last several years I was pretty set on getting a Fender Player Mustang PJ. I like the look, the feel, and the sound. But when I finally had my budget all ready to go I thought to myself "Well let's just see what else is available in the same price range..." This model immediately caught my attention. The antique brown burst is so cool. So I went to Guitar Center to play a bunch of different basses and basically try to talk myself out of getting this and back into getting the Mustang. Guitar Center didn't have a Mustang, or things _may_ have gone differently, but they did have a SR500e in the same color. After trying a Sterling by Music Man Ray 34, a Squier Classic Vibe P Bass, a Fender Player P Bass, and a Fender Player Jazz Bass, I kept coming back to the Ibanez. So I immediately came home and called up my sales engineer (also shoutout to John Tonello--he gave me some great advice and got me squared away with a tuner and a cable) and ordered this bass.

The pros:
1. The neck is slim, fairly narrow, and so so smooth. The back is a very smooth satin finish, and the entire neck is just smooth and easy to play up and down the neck.
2. The wide range of available tones. Between the active/passive switch and the mid-frequency selector switch when in active mode, and the pickup blend knob, this thing can just cover a ridiculous array of sounds. The highs EQ knob acts like a tone knob in passive mode, which is killer because it can be pretty boomy in passive mode. But it really does cover pretty much any of the sonic territory I've heard on video reviews of the PJ combos from Fender, etc.
3. The pickups. I don't know nearly as much about bass pickups as I do about guitar pickups, but the Nordstrand Big Break pickups are so nice. In passive mode it's dead silent. In active mode it does add just the faintest bit of hum, especially when I kick on my fuzz pedal, but most of the time it's just dead silent. The bridge and neck pickups have very distinctive tones and are pretty hot. I have to dial the preamp down below 50% on my interface when I play plugged directly to my interface.
4. Weight and balance. This thing is so comfortable to wear. Not a sharp edge to be found and it just fits so comfortably worn about belly button height. I have a hemp strap from Levy's, and there's absolutely no neck dive.

The cons.
1. There are a couple of _very_ small imperfections in the finish on the upper horn, like specs of dust got in under the paint. They're virtually invisible and I don't even know they're there unless I run my hand over them.
2. That's pretty much it.

In a world of >$ basses, I wasn't expecting an absolute marvel of craftsmanship, finish, etc for

Zach is the man and this Ibanez is sweeeeet

A few months ago I saw on Facebook this amazingly beautiful Ibanez and I had to have it. Guess what!? Sold out everywhere. I bought some strings for my jazz bass though Zack and inquired about the Ibanez I'd seen a ways back and reserved one. Zach was great despite all kinds of what seemed to be bad luck with me ever owning this beauty he worked with me and held it for me till my work payroll dept squared up my bank account. Thanks so much Zach. Looking forward to hearing from you when those les Claypool emgs get there.

Tremendous value for money

This is my first "real" bass after starting with a Fender PJ in a box setup.

This bass plays like a dream and feels awesome in my hands. It's is surprisingly lightweight and the neck is far faster than I am! I am able to get a wide variety of tones using the onboard controls which make me want to explore genres outside of my normal swim lane. I don't see myself outgrowing this instrument for years to come.

On top of that, she's a real beauty!

Exceptional

Been a fan of ibanez overall with bass. The balance, weight, tone it's all there. This one however stands out, I prefer the tone over my 405e, the selector switch is a game changer, offering crazy string attack as well as thick chunky low end with the flip of a switch, overall it's 2 bases in one and I could see this being my go to in studio as well as on stage as it caters to both situations flawlessly. Whether you grind with a pick or assault with your fingers this bass is well equipped to handle both styles. Additionally I don't feel the need to plug any pedals into my chain with this bass. Going direct is flat-out brutal, where as my 405e with a tone capsul, thunderbird, even a stiletto all had there weakpoints, when setup correctly and inotated this bass just dominates. And regardless your genre, the tones out of this thing just own! Whether you want that fieldy string response or brutal fast and heavy from the likes of Sean beasley this is the bass for you.

Great all around

This was my first Ibanez and purchase from Sweetwater. It has a thicker neck than the sr300s, which I do like. It sounds great in both active and passive modes. Tonally, it has a lot of clarity as well as heavy bottom end, and offers many mid options. Whether you like playing STP, RHCP, A Perfect Circle, Tool... This bass does it pretty well. I'm not a huge ash fan because of the weight, but this instrument is actually really light and balances very well standing up. My only gripe about it is that the finish, although really slick, is very fragile. The slightest scratch stands out quite a bit. So, treat it with care if you're out gigging with it.
