Experience the Ibanez Difference Firsthand

Are you on the hunt for a bass that oozes ear-grabbing tones and charisma? The Ibanez SR405EPBDX from Sweetwater is the bass you’re looking for! This 5-string solidbody bass guitar has a wonderfully resonant nyatoh body, stunning poplar burl top, and super comfortable contours for marathon practice sessions. You’ll love the comfortable playability of the 5-piece, bolt-on maple/walnut neck and jatoba fingerboard. Beyond the tonewoods, the SR405EPBDX's tone comes courtesy of two Ibanez-designed PowerSpan humbucking pickups. The bass’ flexible electronics include a 3-way Power Tap switch to toggle between different pickup voicings and a 3-band active EQ that work together to create almost any tone you can imagine. Whether you’re looking for contemporary or classic tones, the Ibanez SR405EPBDX handles it all with ease. Basses this good don’t come around that often, so make sure you grab yours today!

Resonant body woods and comfortable neck

Before the pickups get involved, the tone starts with your bass’ tonewoods. For the SR405EPBDX, Ibanez chose a nyatoh body. Nyatoh, sometimes called nato, has gained a reputation for its warm, mid-forward character that’s oh-so-similar to mahogany. The body comes bolted to a 5-piece maple and walnut neck that adds an extra helping of top-end shimmer. Together, the body and neck deliver truckloads of resonance and sustain that any bass player can appreciate.

PowerSpan pickups and flexible onboard EQ

Ibanez’s proprietary PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups take the classic humbucker design to a new level of performance. These pickups offer a rich tone with smooth top-end harmonics and powerful lows. And with the 3-way Power Tap switch, you can tailor the sound of the pickups to meet your tonal needs. Power Tap offers a powerful humbucker sound, clear single-coil goodness, and an enhanced single-coil sound with extra lows. As if that’s not enough versatility, Ibanez included a 3-band EQ for further shaping your tone.

Reliable tuning stability and solid hardware

Aside from tone, reliable hardware is one of the things that bassists at Sweetwater look for in a new bass. The Ibanez SR405EPBDX comes with an Accu-cast B505 bridge. Aside from efficiently transferring string vibration to the body, the bridge’s adjustable string spacing lets you tailor the feel of the strings to your liking. And since nobody likes knocking their bass out of tune after a single song, Ibanez loaded the SR405EPBDX with their specially designed tuning machines to help keep you in tune for longer.

Ibanez SR405EPBDX 5-string Electric Bass Features:

  • Nyatoh body produces a warm, resonant tone
  • Poplar burl top adds attractive good looks
  • Walnut/maple neck sits comfortably in the hand
  • Jatoba fingerboard and medium frets for supreme playability
  • PowerSpan humbucking pickups serve up classic soapbar tone with no hum
  • Power Tap switch lets you choose between three pickup voices
  • Onboard 3-band EQ offers extra tonal flexibility
  • Accu-cast B505 bridge enables custom string spacing

Awesome bass for the price
Needed a quick replacement and had my eye on this for a while, finally pulled the trigger and it's an awesome bass. Plays great and sounds great. Looks amazing, the finish is so cool. Really digging the eq's as well.

IBANEZ SR405EPBDX 5 STRING IN TROPICAL SEAFLOOR BURST
This guitar is absolutely gorgeous. It's light weight, balanced well, it's got all the tone I want, need and then some. It was perfect right out of the box, I see they take the 55 pt check seriously. I'm not versed good enough on the 5 string as I am on a 4 string. I won't use it with my band for shows or even rehearsals yet. I don't want to do this bass an injustice. I even thought about just hanging it on a wall. Here again folks Matt E. helped me through this as usual and he delivered the bass fast and perfectly. Thank you Matt E. all supporting staff at SweetWater.
Great Bass
I love everything about this guitar. I Like that it's light weight and the strings feel good to my fingers.
Would recommend it to anyone looking for a new bass guitar. Thank You Sweetwater.
Hard to put down
Just arrived today and first impressions are very positive. Not my first 5-string, but my first Ibanez. If they do anything right, they nail the finishes on these basses. Photos don't do them justice. The gold hardware is a plus and really adds to the visual impact of the bass. Very comfortable neck with nicely finished frets and fret ends. I play fingerstyle, so while the preamp offers lots of tonal variety, I set it and forget it. Great tone for the P & W music I play weekly. Just turned 73 and the difference in weight between the Ibanez and the Sire Marcus Miller 5-string (great bass, but hard on this old back) I've been playing was a big selling point for me. Great bass that doesn't break the bank and doesn't break your back.
Music background: Praise and Worship player. Sometimes rocker.
Bang for your buck$
Great bass for the money. Pretty darn versatile too with lots of options for EQ and pickup combinations that provide nice thump as well as clean highs. Bought this to add bass lines to my guitar mixes. I have played numerous high end basses as this holds its own against many of them for much, much le$$. A genuine bargain….especially for what I needed it to be. Sweetwater has no competition when it comes to customer service and satisfaction. Period.
