Experience the Ibanez Difference Firsthand

Are you on the hunt for a bass that oozes ear-grabbing tones and charisma? The Ibanez SR400EPBDX from Sweetwater is the bass you’re looking for! This 4-string solidbody bass guitar has a wonderfully resonant nyatoh body, stunning poplar burl top, and super comfortable contours for marathon practice sessions. You’ll love the comfortable playability of the 5-piece, bolt-on maple/walnut neck and jatoba fingerboard. Beyond the tonewoods, the SR400EPBDX's tone comes courtesy of two Ibanez-designed PowerSpan humbucking pickups. The bass’ flexible electronics include a 3-way Power Tap switch to toggle between different pickup voicings and a 3-band active EQ that work together to create almost any tone you can imagine. Whether you’re looking for contemporary or classic tones, the Ibanez SR400EPBDX handles it all with ease. Basses this good don’t come around that often, so make sure you grab yours today!

Resonant body woods and comfortable neck

Before the pickups get involved, the tone starts with your bass’ tonewoods. For the SR400EPBDX, Ibanez chose a nyatoh body. Nyatoh, sometimes called nato, has gained a reputation for its warm, mid-forward character that’s oh-so-similar to mahogany. The body comes bolted to a 5-piece maple and walnut neck that adds an extra helping of top-end shimmer. Together, the body and neck deliver truckloads of resonance and sustain that any bass player can appreciate.

PowerSpan pickups and flexible onboard EQ

Ibanez’s proprietary PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups take the classic humbucker design to a new level of performance. These pickups offer a rich tone with smooth top-end harmonics and powerful lows. And with the 3-way Power Tap switch, you can tailor the sound of the pickups to meet your tonal needs. Power Tap offers a powerful humbucker sound, clear single-coil goodness, and an enhanced single-coil sound with extra lows. As if that’s not enough versatility, Ibanez included a 3-band EQ for further shaping your tone.

Reliable tuning stability and solid hardware

Aside from tone, reliable hardware is one of the things that bassists at Sweetwater look for in a new bass. The Ibanez SR400EPBDX comes with an Accu-cast B500 bridge. Aside from efficiently transferring string vibration to the body, the bridge’s adjustable string spacing lets you tailor the feel of the strings to your liking. And since nobody likes knocking their bass out of tune after a single song, Ibanez loaded the SR400EPBDX with their specially designed tuning machines to help keep you in tune for longer.

Ibanez SR400EPBDX 4-string Electric Bass Features:

  • Nyatoh body produces a warm, resonant tone
  • Poplar burl top adds attractive good looks
  • Walnut/maple neck sits comfortably in the hand
  • Jatoba fingerboard and medium frets for supreme playability
  • PowerSpan humbucking pickups serve up classic soapbar tone with no hum
  • Power Tap switch lets you choose between three pickup voices
  • Onboard 3-band EQ offers extra tonal flexibility
  • Accu-cast B500 bridge enables custom string spacing

Beautiful!

I am only a beginner bass player and let's be honest, I only bought this because it looked fabulous in the pictures (Ok, I had a bit of help in selecting an Ibanez). In real life it is just as gorgeous as I had hoped. And what's more, it really does sound pretty good (through an Orange Crush 50, also bought from Sweetwater) despite that it's me playing it !

Has some pretty whacky settings too, which are fun.

Awesome Bass and Excellent Service

It has been over 15 years since I last owned a bass and after listening to Lee Rittenour's songs, I suddenly got a massive desire to buy one.

The Ibanez SR400EPBDX is a great bass for what I believe to be a great value. Let me start by thanking my awesome rep Samantha who was extremely courteous and more than willing to find me a good deal! I honestly have never experienced this kind of service with guitar center and this has changed my mind.

Back to the bass, it's heavy but im used to playing guitars so theres that. I love the color and it reminds me of my trips to the aquarium and Noki Bay from Super Mario Sunshine. Soundwise, as a novice to bass tones, I would say it can range from smooth to pop depending on your active eq settings, which I can appreciate was included.

The body in itself is nicely contoured, the fretboard is nice to play on, and the fret edges are nice and filed. The neck is nice and thin and so it is easy for someone with smaller hands like myself to reach between frets. The gold hardware that comes with it is a nice splash of luxury.

I love this bass and I have to say I do not regret a single thing about it! I cant speak for anyone but I couldnt see anyone getting this bass and not enjoying it. Cheers!
