Are you on the hunt for a bass that oozes ear-grabbing tones and charisma? The Ibanez SR400EPBDX from Sweetwater is the bass you’re looking for! This 4-string solidbody bass guitar has a wonderfully resonant nyatoh body, stunning poplar burl top, and super comfortable contours for marathon practice sessions. You’ll love the comfortable playability of the 5-piece, bolt-on maple/walnut neck and jatoba fingerboard. Beyond the tonewoods, the SR400EPBDX's tone comes courtesy of two Ibanez-designed PowerSpan humbucking pickups. Beautiful!
I am only a beginner bass player and let's be honest, I only bought this because it looked fabulous in the pictures (Ok, I had a bit of help in selecting an Ibanez). In real life it is just as gorgeous as I had hoped. And what's more, it really does sound pretty good (through an Orange Crush 50, also bought from Sweetwater) despite that it's me playing it !
Has some pretty whacky settings too, which are fun.
Awesome Bass and Excellent Service
It has been over 15 years since I last owned a bass and after listening to Lee Rittenour's songs, I suddenly got a massive desire to buy one.
The Ibanez SR400EPBDX is a great bass for what I believe to be a great value. Let me start by thanking my awesome rep Samantha who was extremely courteous and more than willing to find me a good deal! I honestly have never experienced this kind of service with guitar center and this has changed my mind.
Back to the bass, it's heavy but im used to playing guitars so theres that. I love the color and it reminds me of my trips to the aquarium and Noki Bay from Super Mario Sunshine. Soundwise, as a novice to bass tones, I would say it can range from smooth to pop depending on your active eq settings, which I can appreciate was included.
The body in itself is nicely contoured, the fretboard is nice to play on, and the fret edges are nice and filed. The neck is nice and thin and so it is easy for someone with smaller hands like myself to reach between frets. The gold hardware that comes with it is a nice splash of luxury.
I love this bass and I have to say I do not regret a single thing about it! I cant speak for anyone but I couldnt see anyone getting this bass and not enjoying it. Cheers!
