My First Bass and It's Awesome - Ibanez SR305E
The Bass Arrived on time and I must say it came ready to play out of the box with Sweetwater's 55 points inspection. I love the tone options, look and feel. Kudos! to Sweetwater and their amazing team always ready to assist in anyway possible.
Incredible bass
Amazing bass guitar, especially for the money. Needed that 5th string, and this has a great tone, lots of features like the active EQ, etc. If I had one complaint, it's the recessed input jack; I prefer angled cables and those don't work at all with this. Supposedly it's for a more secure and snug connection, but I don't care for it.

Other than that, I 100% recommend this bass to beginners and intermediate players or anyone looking to go from a 4 to 5 string setup.

The bass was already set up very nicely, in tune, and action was perfect. Don't second guess, just buy this bass.
An amazing Value!
I have been playing for 40+ years and had several 5-stringers of multiple brands, but other than my Peavey Cirrus, I was never happy with them, and they moved on. I got a bug to try another 5-er but didn't want to spend a fortune. Imagine my surprise at finding this gem, for less than $, that plays and sounds terrific! I have always loved the SR necks, and this one doesn't disappoint - slim and fast. The pickups are very good, and the 3-way switch adds even more variability to the tone. It is in a silver metallic burst and is really attractive. Nearly perfect When I got it home. I will play it for a while and then change to the Elixirs and do a complete set-up. This was a no-brainer! Ibanez Rules!
Pleasantly surprised
My previous basses were: 1) 1970 Fender Jazz natural with perloid inlay (stolen in 1975), 2) 1976 MM Sting Ray first issue sunburst (sold because of an offer I couldn't refuse - $2800! - to a Greek celebrity). I didn't think I would need another bass. I was wrong. When I set up a new studio, I thought an in-the-box bass sample would work - wrong again. I got a recommendation from others and was led to Ibanez. After shopping around and trying to find something budget-wise in a 5 string, I came across this gem. It has the same pickups, electronics, neck, and other features of more expensive models. So, I bought it. Best decision I've made in a while.

The playability is exceptional, the neck is near perfect, the fret ends are trimmed nicely, the intonation is great up the neck. The pickups, for the price, are very nice. I seem to get a wide variety of usable tones from them using the switch/EQ setup. AND..it's very nice to look at. There are the usual finish flaws one would expect from a $400 bass, but they are tiny and don't detract from the clean appearance. So far, I love it! Thanks to Chris for your patience in answering all of my questions and leading me to this Ibanez bass.

Oh, I would get a rubber sleeved 1/4" plug for this bass to prevent scratching the input jack receptacle paint. I bought a Neutrik NP2X AU-Slient Plug and put it on one of my cables.

Ibanez SR305EPW
This is an incredible bass! Sound and playability are both amazing! Don't let anyone call this a beginner bass. This is the real deal. Ibanez has done good! I personally like pickups in Hummbucker mode most of the time. However, the single coil mode is amazing as well. Haven't really found a need for the tap bypass mode. But I am sure someone with more talent than I can and will. All in all I HIGHLY recommend this bass!
