Affordable Bass with Upgraded Features

Pick up the Ibanez SR300E electric bass, and you'll quickly discover that Ibanez didn't sacrifice quality to bring you a value-packed instrument. The experience of playing the SR300E is much like that of Ibanez's higher-end SR Series models, thanks to the SR300E's sleek 5-piece maple/walnut neck and comfortable arched nayatoh body. A pair of Ibanez PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups packs a phenomenal punch, while the 3-band EQ with Power Tap creates a vast array of sound-shaping possibilities. Whether you're a beginning bassist looking for your first quality instrument or a pro who needs a reliable backup, the Ibanez SR300E is an outstanding value.

Acclaimed SR feel

Ibanez's SR line of electric bass guitars have long been considered one of the most comfortable instruments for players who appreciate sleek lines and fast playability. The SR300E's body boasts that iconic, sculpted shape that seems to naturally hug your body without ever getting in the way of your performance. The SR neck features a narrow nut and thin contour, aiding in quick string skipping and moving up and down the fretboard with ease. Trust Sweetwater: you'll love the feel of the SR300E!

Sonically versatile electronics

The electronics onboard the SR300E deliver a huge palette of bass tone. Ibanez outfitted their SR300E electric bass guitars with an active 3-band preamp that also features a 3-way Power Tap switch. These electronics harness the power of the bass's PowerSpan Dual Coil neck and bridge pickups, while adding plenty of tone-shifting options. The Power Tap switch changes between humbucking and single-coil performance and a blend of the two to further extend the SR300E's tonal range.

Ibanez: a brief history

Ibanez began its life in 1908 as the Hoshino Gakki company in Nagoya, Japan. However, the company didn't get into the guitar business until 1929, when they started importing Salvador Ibanez guitars from Spain. In 1935, Hoshino Gakki began building Spanish acoustic guitars under the "Ibanez Salvador" name, which was later shortened to "Ibanez." Although Ibanez began manufacturing electric guitars in 1957, the company was relatively unknown in the West until the 1960s, when they started producing guitars based on American designs. By the late 1970s, Ibanez had stopped producing derivative guitars and had begun manufacturing the original designs that the company is now known for. Ibanez is also famous for their effect pedals (most notably the Tube Screamer) and guitar amplifiers.

Reviews

Happy with this Bass choice
This is my very first instrument. I don't know if it is perfect cause I've never owned any other instrument , but I do know that for me a total beginner this Bass is perfect for me! It feels nicely made the neck profile is nice and thin which is a good fit for me since I have smaller hands. It doesn't feel overly heavy like I've been told Basses tend to be on the heavier side but this one is very comfortable and light weight. The color on it is very attractive making me want to practice with it even more than I have time for. Overall I am very happy with my choice of this Bass, while it is not very expensive like some of the others I've seen, it doesn't scream budget build or feel cheap.
Music background: beginner
Don't let 1 bad review affect your decision.
I own a Rick4001, a '76 Gibson Ripper, a Jazz 24, a Thunderbird and several others including 2 of these 300E - 1 in Iron and 1 in Cerulean, and an Ibanez 5-string fretless. I have no problems with these guitars staying in tune and I pound and pull on the strings as much as anyone. The electronics are pretty versatile since you can use Humbucker or Single Coil settings. This bridge gives easy access for setting string length and height when strobing. The Rick and Gibsons have tailpieces designed in the Stone Age. Is it the best bass you can buy? No. Is it WAY better quality than it's price? Definitely. If you like 24 frets, decent active electronics and a bass that doesn't feel like you have a bowling ball strapped around your neck this is a great choice and it comes in several colors and finishes. I still record with these and the other basses but if you see me on stage I'll be playing one of these 300's from Ryan Clapper at Sweetwater. Great salesman!
Music background: Been there.
Great bass for beginners to intermediate players
The neck is comfy, the pickups have a wide range of sound (with help from the on board eq) and the finish is super clean. I've gotten some solid recordings out of it as well so it's not just a cheap gigging bass, imo.
Music background: Hobby/Garage musician
Great deal for the money!
Wide range of solid tones, really clean out of the box. Needed minimal setup(mostly just needed the saddle height adjusted) but that's completely normal, imo. Can't beat what you get for this price and Ibanez always makes a quality product!
Music background: 15 years of being a music creation hobbiest.
Good Starter
Wanted to branch out from a regular 6 string and between looks and other reviews this seemed like a good pick. For the price I would at the very least call this a great beginner bass.
