Natural. Acoustic. Tone.

The Blackstar Sonnet 60 has one primary purpose: to deliver natural-sounding acoustic guitar amplification. And it succeeds brilliantly, retaining every ounce of your instrument’s tone, while revealing the unique nuances of your playing. This top-shelf acoustic combo is particularly adept at capturing percussive accents, tapped harmonics, and other unconventional playing techniques. Ideal for solo performers, the Sonnet 60 incorporates separate microphone and instrument inputs, along with a line input and Bluetooth. Player-friendly tone-shaping, including perfectly tailored EQs and an acoustic-optimized highpass filter are also at your disposal. You also get two onboard reverbs, which add the perfect amount of studio-quality sheen to your performance. USB and XLR D.I. outputs and an adjustable tilt-back stand round out the Sonnet 60’s robust feature set. Powerful, light, and compact, the Sonnet 60 is pro quality all the way.

Transparent amplification retains your instrument’s tone

The guitarists here at Sweetwater have a strong disdain — as do most acoustic players — for amplifiers that alter the sound of our instruments. After all, we install high-end piezo systems in our guitars to capture their natural tone. Why would we want to change it? Blackstar understands this. That’s why they designed the Sonnet 60 to be as transparent as possible. It faithfully amplifies the natural response of your acoustic instrument — it’s just louder. If you’re picky about your acoustic guitar tone, the Sonnet 60 is the perfect acoustic guitar combo amplifier for you. Just ask Jon Gomm — he relies on the Sonnet to capture his unorthodox arsenal of modern, neo-Michael Hedges playing techniques, and it definitely delivers the goods.

Player-friendly tone-shaping makes dialing in your sound easy

The Blackstar Sonnet 60 makes dialing in your tone easy. Of course, its transparent sound gives you a great starting point. But beyond that, fine-tuned EQs enable you to tailor the amp to your venue with a minimum of effort, while Shape buttons toggle between a flat response and one with a mid-cut and high/low boost. An optimized highpass filter enhances your instrument’s acoustic resonance, while a Brilliance control injects your piezo with the perfect amount of high-end sparkle. You also get two built-in reverbs (Hall and Plate) to add the final bit of polish to your performance.

Robust feature set is perfect for solo performers

If you’re a solo performer, you’ll value the Sonnet 60’s real-world features. Dual inputs — each with their own separate set of controls — accommodate both your instrument and your microphone. A polarity reverse function ensures maximum sound quality in any situation or environment. The Sonnet 60’s flexible outputs enable easy USB recording and XLR DI-ing to front of house. Built-in Bluetooth connectivity makes streaming backing tracks from your smartphone a breeze (there’s also a line input if you’re going old school). You also get footswitchable reverb and amp mute. The Sonnet 60’s handy tilt-back stand is icing on the cake.

Excellent little amp

I took a chance on this amp because of the ported cab and the extra eq flexibility. For my needs, it is the perfect little amp so far. I will say I have owned and used a variety of high end "acoustic" amps and this one so far is my favorite. There is a lot of low end available, but it can be tamed with the filter controls. Both channels are very transparent if you want them to be (which is a good thing in my case), but you can also shape the tone to fit your instrument. I have used it with my steel string acoustic, 7 string nylon, jazz archtop, as a platform to run an amp simulator for electrics through, and with an SM57 in the mic channel… it handles every application with ease. Also did I mention it's LOUD. I have used it in full band and in an orchestra and it was plenty loud. The reverbs aren't bad and are very useable. The di out is very useful as well. Lastly I'll mention the weight is very lightweight, the noise floor is very low, and the built in tilt screw is a nice feature. You get a very good representation of what you put into it back out. I may buy another one soon… I just wish it came with a bag or a cover, but I can't complain at this price point.

Great amp

I recently purchased a Blackstar Sonnet 60-60 combo amp. I love it. What an amazing amp. The price, performance, size, and dual capabilities provided exactly what I was looking for. This covers both voice and guitar amplification. This is a keeper. You will not be disappointed with this amp.

This is undeniably the one for me

Buy this amp if you're looking for a coffee-house, busking, stage-ready pre-mixer to house PA. It rules. I've tried all the Fishman, and Acoustics that they had at Guitar Center, this one wins it. It doesn't "pop" from the pic up in my guitar, it really sounds like it's mic'd. The trim effects are unreal. Sounds great with my voice too. The Shape button seems so innocuous but it's equivalent to a $ compressor pedal. Built in tilt-stand is icing on the cake.

I'm a baritone singer who plays mostly country music on a Martin D16E.

Nice little amp!

As usual always great service from Alden Debee at Sweetwater! This little practice amp Blackstar Sonnet 60 is a great amp. The clarity is excellent and has a lot of power for a smaller amp. It can be used for smaller venues easily. It's a great choice.

Very potent buy

My new amp arrived yesterday. I have used a Marshall AS50R for many years and wanted to update to the USB in particular. I was also very interested in the Sonnet 120 and it was tough to choose between them. For the advantage of less weight to carry, I went this way. My first reaction: this is smaller than the specs listed, which for me is fantastic. I first streamed a blues song though it, and I was favorably impressed with the volume and frequency response. I had wondered why a guitar amp would have a high pass filter and now I know, there is a lot of available bass response. After downloading Recroute from Blackstar I learned the USB default is minimum volume. Setting it to max is enough to get a recording on an ipad, but I would like more volume. The sound of the guitar and voice is excellent and should be enough for anyplace like a coffeeshop or pub. If it has to compete with a PA then join the PA through the direct out. The tilt adjustment on the bottom is enough to let this be a nice floor monitor too, another application for the high pass filter.
