Serious Arena-rock Tones

The Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Special bridge humbucker nails the guitar sound that filled arenas in the late 1970s, but with a tighter, more modern low end. This classic-voiced, moderate-output pickup employs Alnico IV magnets to produce warm cleans and articulate overdriven tones that lend themselves nicely to crunchy riffs and stinging leads. The Saturday Night Special comes standard with 4-conductor wiring, a maple spacer, and short mounting legs. When we're chasing arena-rock tones, the guitarists here at Sweetwater turn to the Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Special bridge humbucker.

Reviews

great for classic rock
I paired with jazz in the neck. Sounds great and splits nicely.
Music background: In 1985 I started doing this thing where I grab ahold of a guitar with one hand and beat the sh#+ out of it with the other.
Great pickup!
I have a Ibanez LP style guitar (ART100) that I had changed pickups in several years ago. I had put a Dimarzio X2N high gain in the bridge, & a Dimarzio DP156 vintage gain (Pickup from Hell) in the neck. I've been wanting to go back to the 70's-80's sound for some time. So after many months of research, I purchased this Seymor Duncan "Saturday Night Special" for the bridge. All I can say is WOW! It has the sound of a Gibson pickup from the 70's with more gain or drive. Very reponsive to pick attack. It takes gain well without loosing clarity or tone. It's also very bright and clear sounding. It matches great with the neck Dimarzio DP156, better then I hoped for. If you play 60's to modern rock, give this pickup a shot. IMO, in my 50+ years of playing, it's the best classic sounding pickup I've ever played, and I've played a bunch of them. Now I'm thinking of putting a set in my ES-335. I wish I had this pickup when I was gigging in the 80's & 90's.
Music background: 60's, thru 90's rock
yum
Installed this in a lap steel I built tuned to open E, 25" scale- just the fat tone I was looking for, great killer low end, no piercing hi side

Installed in the bridge position (uncovered), this balances VERY well with the neck pickup in my LP, and does not need to be too close to the strings to do so. A bit hotter than vintage, with plenty of cut when needed. Great customer service & fast delivery.
