StudioLive: The Next Generation

When PreSonus launched the first generation of StudioLive mixers in 2009, they were instant hits at Sweetwater, and the rack models, released five years later, proved just as popular. Successive generations have only gotten better, and the newest iteration, the StudioLive Series III SE, is no exception. These consoles continue to break ground with state-of-the-art effects processing, smart onboard networking, seamless DAW integration, and other innovations, cementing the sterling StudioLive reputation that has made them omnipresent in studios and live sound environments alike. Available in 16-, 24-, and 32-input versions, StudioLive Series III SE rack mixers rock studio-grade sonics, flexible bus configuration, advanced AoIP implementation, seamlessly integrated recording capabilities, and premium software. And arguably best of all, StudioLive Series III SE makes this level of performance and versatility accessible to every studio or sound reinforcement company.

Comprehensive mixing package

The 24-input StudioLive SE 24R offers comprehensive mixing with modeled vintage-style EQ and compression on each channel. Additionally, it provides 16 FlexMixes that can be individually configured; four dedicated subgroups; four FX mixes with dedicated stereo returns, reverbs, and delays; 24 DCA (digitally controlled amplifier) groups; onboard stereo SD card recording; and a built-in 64 x 64 USB audio interface. It’s impressively full-featured, to be sure, but that’s not all. You also get a powerful software package that includes PreSonus Capture software with 1-click multitrack recording and Virtual Soundcheck, Universal Control remote mixing software with Offline Editor and PreSonus Metro for remote internet control with real-time audio monitoring, and a perpetual license for Fender Studio Pro.

Pristine XMAX-Remote preamps for FOH and recording

Simply put, the 24 Class A XMAX-Remote preamps onboard the StudioLive SE 24R sound like they belong in the studio, rather than at front-of-house. Their high headroom and low noise floor deliver extremely clean and clear sound you wouldn’t expect from a live console. And mic preamp settings are fully recallable, which is a huge time saver when you mix or record the same artist or show on a regular basis.

Three options for recording

The PreSonus StudioLive SE 24R gives you three efficient options for recording. A built-in SD card recorder allows you to record and play back from the Main stereo output. You can also connect to a computer via USB for 64 channels of recording and playback. And the StudioLive SE 24R supports AVB over Ethernet too, enabling you to interface directly with PreSonus NSB stage boxes, EarMix 16M personal monitor mixers, AVB-D16 Dante bridge, and other StudioLive Series III mixers.

FlexMixes offer a ton of freedom for any mixing application

It can be frustrating trying to use the same mixer for many different tasks. Thanks to FlexMixes, that’s not the case with the PreSonus StudioLive SE 24R. FlexMixes can be set up as aux mixes, subgroups, or Matrix mixes, depending on the requirements of the show. Need a ton of different monitor mixes for a large group of musicians? No problem. You can create up to 16 aux sends if you need to. The same goes for subgroups and Matrix mixes — perfect for theater productions and multi-zone venues. Matrix mixes are fed by all 40 input channels and all buses to facilitate the creation of front- and side-fill mixes for larger venues or producer mixes for broadcast applications. The SE 24R’s FlexMixes allow you to adapt your mixer to the mixing task at hand, instead of adapting your workflow to the limitations of your mixer.

A complete hardware/software ecosystem

The PreSonus StudioLive SE 24R is much more than a rack mixer — it’s the nucleus of a complete hardware/software ecosystem. Use Universal Control to remotely control your mixer or dial in an offline mix from your computer or tablet. Deploy PreSonus Metro to control your mixer via the internet from anywhere in the world with real-time audio monitoring. Lastly, onboard Milan-certified AVB audio networking makes for effortless integration with stage boxes, personal monitor mixers, other StudioLive Series III SE mixers, and accessories such as the AVB-D16 AVB-to-Dante bridge, which lets you easily add 16 x 16 Dante networking when you need it.

Sweetwater and PreSonus go way back, and that makes a lot of sense. Like Sweetwater, PreSonus is largely staffed by active musicians, songwriters, live sound techs, and engineers, and like Sweetwater, their culture shows up in everything they do. Early on, PreSonus broke ground by offering super-affordable audio interfaces that brought quality recording to home studio engineers everywhere. In the following years, we've been with them as they introduced a powerful, artist-friendly DAW, groundbreaking digital mixers, and more - all products we at Sweetwater use ourselves. One thing that's never changed, even as PreSonus has branched out into new territory, is that they've always done everything possible to provide you with the best value, and we're proud to stand by their products.
