There aren't very many shelves offered that lock. This product is pretty expensive but I also feel it is built very well. So far it has been on 2 trips and held up but it has come unlocked during travel. I have several guitar pedals including a quad cortex mounted on one and then a MacBook on the other. I feel like if there was studio foam in the interior cover it would not be an issue. I have a gator rack case that converts the covers into side tables so there is no studio foam within the interior cover. Regardless, I still think the shelf is great, just wish it was cheaper.

This thing is a solid tank.
Easy sliding.
Locking in/out position.
Universal mounting options.
I store a good sized touchscreen laptop, in my rack case with this.

This is another Middle Atlantic Product that is better designed and manufactured than the other guys. I have used this product before and it is still the best way to get a mixer in a rack that allows easy access but, keeps the knobs away from the unwashed and untrained that know about pro audio because they have a new car stereo that stalls out the car when the bass boom is hit. It has a nice smooth slide and lock into place well. I only marked it down because no manor of cable screening is included. You can get a cable worked down in the space and the shelf will be blocked when you push the shelf back in the rack. I will use it again as needed.

Solid. Self rides effortlessly and love that it locks when open.

Using for pedals. Would like to have intermediate detents or catches to lock part way open; I'll have to devise something. Universal rear mount apparatus is a bit of a pain. I cut the mount extenders so the extra length wasn't hanging free and vibrating/ getting caught on cables, etc. (which is what happened when I first installed the shelf). Overall a very sturdy and smooth operating shelf once installed.
