Versatility and veracity come together
Ever since the mid-20th century, maple has been recognized as one of drumming's premier tonewoods for its depth, projection, and resonance. Adding poplar to the mix beefs up the low-mids so that this snare packs even more of a wallop. 45-degree bearing edges also lend a sharp focus to the initial attack. Add it all up and you've got a drum that delivers the goods whether you play big band, breakdowns, or blast beats.

Historic hardware — reimagined
Slingerland's Stick Saver hoops live up to their name by featuring rolled edges that won't chip away at your sticks like rims with sharper edges will. They're also less likely to send uncomfortable shocks through your hands and wrists, and Sweetwater drummers also find that they provide a more full-bodied cross stick than conventional hoops. Plus, they're bolstered by Slingerland's classy Streamlined lugs, which hold your desired tuning with steadfast determination while looking fantastic all the while (perfectly complemented by Slingerland's new badge design and nickel plating). Additionally, Slingerland’s Zoomatic snare strainer earned its reputation during its golden era for flawless functionality. Now, with updated components and modern engineering, this classic design is more reliable and performance-ready than ever.
Slingerland: a rhythmic resurgence
Founded in 1912 as a banjo maker, Slingerland’s rise to drumming icon status is a story of rhythm, reinvention, and enduring legacy. From pioneering the world’s first tunable toms for jazz legend Gene Krupa to crafting the kits and snares that defined the swing and big band eras, Slingerland quickly became a cornerstone of 20th-century percussion. Its influence later expanded into marching percussion and surged again within the ’70s arena rock scene, favored by the likes of Rush’s Neil Peart and Chicago’s Danny Seraphine. After years of universally mourned obsolescence, Slingerland started a new chapter in 2019 when California’s legendary Drum Workshop revived the company for a new generation. Here at Sweetwater, we are excited to see this historic brand reemerge, and we look forward to offering our drumming customers a taste of the coveted Slingerland style and sound.
