Jazz Bass Neck Pickup

The Seymour Duncan SJB-1N Vintage Jazz Bass neck pickup is designed to replicate the responsive feel and iconic tone of the early ’60s Jazz Bass. This is a drop-in replacement for any American Standard Jazz Bass and delivers a rich, smooth tone with an impressive punch. The SJB-1N's Reverse-wound Reverse-polarity (RWRP) construction allows for hum-canceling when both pickups' volume controls are running wide open. Handmade by the master craftsman at Seymour Duncan, this pickup features a vintage-correct construction with Alnico V magnets and period-correct wire. You can pair this pickup with a matching bridge pickup from Seymour Duncan for a balanced, hum-canceling set of pickups.

RWRP construction dampens unwanted hum

The Seymour Duncan SJB-1N is a reverse-wound, reverse-polarity pickup. If you haven't heard of RWRP pickups or need a refresher, the pickup gurus at Sweetwater have you covered. An RWRP pickup is wound backward and has its polarity reversed from the other pickup or pickups in the instrument. By doing this, the pickup can reduce or eliminate the noise and hum you normally hear when chasing in-between tones. On a J-style bass, this means that you can have both pickups running wide open without annoying hum. Throw this pickup in the neck position of your J-style bass, and you'll hear the difference.

Period-correct construction translates a true vintage feel

Seymour Duncan has been hand-building pickups since 1978. To give you the feel of an authentic vintage pickup, they manufacture their pickups with period-correct Alnico V magnets and old-school Forbon flatwork, with waxed and tinned cloth push-back hookup wires. Then, they hand-assemble each piece the same way it was done in the good old days. For an even more authentic look, this pickup comes with a black no-logo cover. You'll enjoy the impressive tone and responsiveness that comes from this extreme attention to detail.

Seymour Duncan SJB-1B Vintage Jazz Bass RWRP Neck Pickup Features:

  • Designed to look and sound like the originals
  • Delivers the legendary tone of the Jazz Bass pickups of the early ’60s
  • Reverse-wound reverse-polarity construction cancels hum while both pickups are engaged
  • Drop-in bridge position replacement for any American Standard Jazz Bass
