Seymour Duncan Pickups - It's all about tone!

For cleaner, more articulate tones, the SH-2 Jazz Model is a perfect fit. When placed in the neck position of a guitar, you're treated to classic humbucker tones that reach far beyond the "Jazz" moniker, including country, blues, funk, and heavy rock. The SH-2 Jazz Model excels on fast runs up and down the neck, and its natural tone allows it to easily match up to virtually any bridge pickup. With the sheer amount of tones available, guitarists of any ilk will find the SH-2 useful.

Seymour Duncan SH-2 Jazz Model at a Glance:
  • Sound
  • Complete setup

Sound
The SH-2 Jazz Model inherent sound makes it a great choice for fast runs. The brighter tone has slightly less output and is a good match with most bridge pickups. When distorted, the tone is full and bright with smooth sustain. Compared to the SH-1 '59 Model, the Jazz has slightly less output and a more detailed treble response. The SH-2 comes with four-conductor hookup cable to facilitate complex pickup switching configurations.

Complete setup
Often a SH-2 Jazz is placed at the neck, and is paired with an SH-4 JB (Seymour's favorite combination, and he knows a thing or two about pickups!) or SH-5 Duncan Custom in the bridge position for diverse tones. The SH-2 Jazz Model works well in balanced and warm instruments, and fares especially well with mahogany bodies and rosewood fingerboards. This versatile pickup also works great with hollow and semi-hollowbody guitars.

Seymour Duncan SH-2 Jazz Model Features:

Why Choose Seymour Duncan?
Quite simply, it boils down to tone. Seymour Duncan has spent the majority of his life refining the art of creating pickups. Seymour Duncan is dedicated to getting the best tone possible from his pickups, from modern metal monsters to faithful reproductions of gems from the '50s and '60s. We know tone is important to you which is why we choose to carry Seymour Duncan pickups. With the massive amount of pickups available from Seymour Duncan, you're certain to find the sound you've been looking for.

Reviews

The "Jazz" pickup is stellar - strange name tho. .
1st experience w/ the SD Jazz - neck position my 335 copy ( Ibanez AS73 ), INSTANTLY a gigable guitar.
2nd experience w/ the SD Jazz - neck position of a Jay Turser Tele ( yep..) Again, INSTANT success!
This pickup is the Best "PAF" hands down, not too hot, not thin, GOLDIE LOCKS. Mine are wired simple 2 wire,
The next one I buy ( yep, I'm sold ), I will try either coil split, or series/parallel, but the simple
installation yielded a sweet variety of tones, I am happy camper. Great pickup for under $.
Music background: currently church worship, sometimes hired gun in bar/clubs/event enviroments
Great Pickup
Have a 30-year old Semi-Hollow Body Ibanez Artstar AS50 - Bridge pickup had bad coil. Replaced with the SD SH-2 in the neck and an SD SH-4 in the bridge - wow! This was a set put together by Sweetwater. Totally blown away with warm jazz tones at low levels and rocking tones at higher output levels. Nice and quiet too. Have a good luthier who set them up nicely so the levels between the pickups are very even. I am impressed. Also excellent advice, support and follow up from Sales Rep, John Castro. Sweetwater rocks!
Music background: Piano player, Composer & Music Producer - over 50 years
Perfect neck pickup
The Seymour Duncan SH-2n Jazz pickup is the best neck pickup that I have ever used. I have played EMG, DiMarzio, and Lace neck pickups, but Seymour Duncan has left them all in the dust and out of my memory. In Seymour Duncan's stables alone I have played Distortion, '59, little '59, and Pearly Gates, but none offer the warmth and clarity that I needed. The best neck pickup.
Music background: Rock, Metal, Country, Gospel, CCM, Pop. 47 years a guitarist. 30 years guitar processor programmer.
good stuff
Great sounding pickup, totally fixed the issue with the stock v7 ibanez neck pickup.
Works really well with the s1 single coil.
Jazz
I love these in the neck never dull and never too bright. They fall into the sweet spot for me.
Music background: Musician songwriter producer engineer.
