SH-1: Reincarnation of a Classic

The Seymour Duncan '59 Model SH-1 humbucking pickup is Seymour Duncan's take on the classic Seth Lover PAF (Patent Applied For) humbucker found on the Gibson's iconic late-1950s Les Paul. The SH-1 sports plain enamel wire, a long-legged bottom plate, 4-conductor cable, and the absence of a Seymour Duncan logo. This vintage re-creation serves up a slightly more scooped midrange than the Seth Lover model and is vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance. For flexible tones with vintage flair, the Duncan '59 Model SH-1 is a perfect fit.

  • A complete tone monster setup
  • Trust your tone to Seymour Duncan
Vintage look and sound

The '59 Model SH-1 provides a late-'50s, vintage-correct, humbucker sound with warm and crystalline clean tones. Full and bright distorted tones with smooth sustain are available from this classic-style pickup. Classic appointments include plain enamel wire, long legged bottom plate, but this version includes 4-conductor cable, to give you modern flexibility in your wiring configuration.

A complete tone monster setup

Best used with balanced and warm-sounding instruments, the '59 Model SH-1 works especially well with mahogany bodies and rosewood fingerboards. This classic humbucker is available in both neck and bridge models. When used in the bridge position, this pup mates well with the clean, articulate voicing of a Duncan SH-2 neck pickup, giving you a massive range of versatile tone.

Trust your tone to Seymour Duncan

Quite simply, it all boils down to tone. Seymour Duncan has spent the majority of his life refining the art of creating pickups. Seymour Duncan is dedicated to getting the best tone possible from his pickups, from modern metal monsters to faithful reproductions of gems from the '50s and '60s. We know tone is important to you - which is why we choose to carry Seymour Duncan pickups. With the massive amount of pickups available from Seymour Duncan, you're certain to find the sound you've been looking for.

Reviews

This pickup hits the sweet spot - big time
I needed a 4-wire replacement humbucker pickup to replace the 2-wire model in my recently acquired mid-90s HSS super-strat. It was imperative that this pickup balance properly with the two single-coils in the neck and middle positions when split, and, in humbucker mode, provide a proportional and complementary boost without being overbearing.

I've historically been a bit leery of Seymour Duncan pickups. The quality is good, but to my ear they're over-wound, well suited for heavy metal but short on subtlety. The SH-1b '59, however, is a different story. In single coil mode, it's sweet and well defined without being tinny. In humbucker mode it's smooth and powerful without sacrificing clarity. It's EXACTLY what I was looking for.
It's a beast
This pickup is a lost gem, it has great dynamics, a powerful attack that resembles single coil pickups, great clarity and very balanced clean sounds, compared to the "Jazz" this one has more attack and dynamics, it's similar to the A2P but with less accentuated mids, I used to use it on the neck only, until I discovered that the magic was in using the set, it works very well on digital equipment like the Fractal because you don't need too much gain to saturate the input, this pickup is like a white canvas from which you can build your sound. finally, don't be deceived by its low resistance 7-8K, when you put distortion on it it growls with great crunch and harmonics.
Great pickup
Versatile and controllable for just about any music style. Moderate output. Wax potted so no squeeling. Good sustain and clarity.
Music background: Classic rock, blues and contemporary music
Duncan 59
Great vintage sound. Very versatile, works well with high gain, clean, or crunch sounds. Moderate output for good tone wit plenty of sustain. Four wire hook up allows for coil splitting, sounds good in single coil mode too. No logo so it won't change the original look of your guitar.

Just like i remember them. If you can't figure it out put in a set of these. Never had anything shipped this fast to me before. Awsome service thank's Nick!
