Reviews

Vintage Boost
This pickup retains all the vintage articulation of individual notes, But with some added horsepower. This isn't always easy to accomplish with aftermarket pickups, they're usually muddy or color the tone of the guitar with higher k windings. Seymour was the 1st back in the day to attempt this before there were after market pickups.
Once again he has succeeded bringing this bucker back.
Music background: Semi pro. 45 + of playing.
Amazing Tone! I am BLOWN AWAY!!!!
WOW! I installed my WLH into both my bridge and neck positions. I was chasing that 70's zep tone a la "The Song Remains the Same" era. Did it nail it? You betcha! Along with the pickup change I also replaced the wiring harness to get the JP #1 ability to split the coils and put the pickups in and out of phase. Well worth the money spent on both things! I run my LP through a Marshall Origin20C and only use the amp distortion. These pickups really made it sing and kill that Plexi Pagey tone! Seymour Duncan really nailed these pickups!
Music background: I have been a recreational players for 30 years just chasing tones and having fun!
Easy classic rock tone.
For players who want to upgrade weak or barely "making it" p-ups for their classic rock sound. As well as English and Chicago style blues.

I wanted a more traditional rock sound with just a hint more gain than factory pick-ups, not a super- hot- modern- metal- gain sound. And since I use Vox and Orange amps the "British-flavored" advertising hype sucked me right in when I started shopping around. Jimmy's association helped entrap me too. Kudos to Seymore Duncan's marketing.

I immediately felt I had achieved the tone I needed when I replaced the factory p-ups in my Epihone Les Paul Ultra with a used set I discovered on the work bench of my local music store. The recent set purchased from Sweetwater was part of a simple mod to make a Frampton tribute guitar from an Epiphone "Black Beauty" I scored from a local pawn shop for $200. Bought these for the neck and bridge (DiMarzio "Tone Zone" for center p-up per SW's sales wise-man, Forrest Powell's advice).

Just enough added gain to get the edge I wanted with full volume and pick attack without the overdrive pedal or channel on and just enough sustain with distortion and/or overdrive for classic rock, early "roots metal". Jimmy Page to Frampton (Humble Pie era) to Joe Walsh to Tony Iommi.

I enjoyed the gain and tone even before I had my local music store install the stacked pots (on the Ultra), and now I have a really wide range of useful tones and response. With split coil there is some loss of gain, as I expect, but even then it's better gain than the factory p-ups (not Probuckers) I replaced. Real cool when I play Queen's version of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and I jump from an acoustic guitar sound to a Telecaster.

Would like to try them on an SG to see what the thinner solid body would sound like.
Music background: 70's Classic rock, art rock, progressive rock, 80's "hair band", angry-girl music. Studio and live.
Whole Lotta fun
Perfect and great classic rock tone. Sounds amazing with a wide range of toneage. With great sounding cleans as well.
