A Brilliant Step-up Flute
A leader in woodwind design, Selmer continues to push the envelope of instrument development while relying on over 135 years of expertise in crafting some of the world’s finest flutes. With the Selmer SFL411BEO intermediate flute, the company's enduring commitment to quality is on full display. Like others in the SFL411 series, this flute comprises a professional hand-cut headjoint, silver-plated hand-assembled keywork with pointed key arms and Pisoni Lucien Deluxe pads, and a Japanese nickel silver body. But most importantly, this model features a sterling silver lip plate and riser, in addition to a gizmo key. Developing players will appreciate the SFL411BEO’s responsive feel, sonorous tone, and impeccable craftsmanship — it will open the doors to new areas of expressiveness, creativity, and technical proficiency. Finally, the Selmer SFL411BEO features an offset G key system, drawn tone holes, a B footjoint, and a deluxe French-style case with a case cover.
Deluxe hand-cut headjoint and Japanese nickel silver body
The Selmer SFL411BEO boasts a hand-cut headjoint with a sterling silver lip plate and riser for an ultra-smooth feel and centered tone. Selmer’s master flute makers gave this flute several premium appointments such as a sharp blowing edge, steep drop-off lip plate, and a multi-tapered bore. It’s paired with the premium Japanese nickel silver body to create an instrument that’s rich, expressive, and effortless to play. By using both under and over hand cutting, Selmer provides players with even tonality across the full range of the instrument and spectacular dynamic control to facilitate nuanced performances.

Lightning-fast silver-plated keywork with Pisoni Lucien Deluxe pads
Selmer is known for its stunning keywork, and the SFL411BEO is no exception. Its silver-plated mechanism is manufactured and assembled using the highest specifications and tolerances, and it features meticulously balanced German steel wire springs. Pointed key arms add a touch of elegance while providing increased strength and stability, and Pisoni Lucien Deluxe pads are installed by hand and partially shimmed for enhanced longevity and ultra-reliable performance. The playing experience is fluid and responsive, allowing for lightning-fast runs with a feather-light feel.
The Selmer legacy of quality and innovation
Conservatory-trained clarinetist Henri Selmer founded Henri Selmer Paris in 1885. Fashioning reeds and mouthpieces in his small workshop, he soon took on instrument repair and modifications, which eventually led to the design and manufacture of clarinets. In 1900, Selmer opened a retail shop in New York (the beginnings of Selmer USA). As a musician himself, Selmer understood that you cannot separate the instrument from the artist, which is why every Selmer instrument is still individually tested and certified by the company’s team of professional musicians. Delivering exceptional value at every level, from student to professional, Selmer USA and Henri Selmer Paris offer a full line of woodwind and brass instruments. Sweetwater is proud to bring you Selmer’s rich legacy of quality and innovation.
