Versatile Birch Cajon with Eye-catching Walnut Frontplate

Suitable for both Flamenco and Peruvian styles, the Meinl Snarecraft cajon features Baltic birch construction for a punchy low-end thud and crisp slap tones. This cajon combines articulation, warmth, and a wide dynamic range, giving you expressive snare sounds that can be dialed in with its throw off knob. In fact, you can completely disengage the snares if you choose. Rounded corners on this cajon's playing surface provide a comfortable playing experience while maximizing your touch. Beyond that, a walnut frontplate supplies an eye-catching appearance. For a high-performance percussion instrument, look no further than the Meinl Snarecraft cajon from Sweetwater.

Reviews

Would be perfect except….
Was really happy with the look and performance of this cajon. It plays easily but the snare on-off knob was hard to turn.
I looked inside the sound hole on the back using a flashlight There doesn't appear to be a problem with the snare assembly but there is a problem where the elastic snare retention strap is inserted.
I found a deep crack along the upper left side and another on the right side, as well as a fine crack along the top horizontal piece.
The bottom horizontal piece was also cut too short.
Someone tried and failed to repair the deep crack on the left side with some sort of filler. The attempt was messy and ineffective.
This is a real quality control issue. The interior plywood is apparently too lightweight to withstand the pressure created by the strap etc.
I'll continue to monitor the situation and if it gets worse will return the product. Unfortunately this cajon probably never should have left the factory.
I suggest that anyone who purchases this should inspect it carefully.

Cajon review
Great instrument, quality of craftsmanship is superb. The sound is great and I like that I can have snares or not using the knob. Excellent service from Sweetwater and Ian is very knowledgeable and helpful!
2 for the show
Very impressive box that in the wild, i.e. campfire, quiet garage jam, etc really covers the necessary spectrum of percussion when play alongside an acoustic guitar and bass which is my next order of business. Love working with the team at Sweetwater! Extremely helpful and attentive in all respects. Thanks again for knocking it out of the park.

Great!
I got this for my birthday, it's a Great Cajon with a warm sound and love the fact that I can switch between snare and Peruvian style. Totally suggest this for first-time percussionists (which I am) and any other level. Super happy with this product.
