Reviews

Takes tube amps to a whole different level.
It's been 30 yrs since I've gigged with a sealed back cabinet, I forgot how tight things feel/sound. Endlessly gigging, Combos are just easier IMO.
I STILL love my British made DSL401, but it's just too loud for my studio. So, I just added the V-built DSL20 combo. At the same time I added a SC212. The cabinet is the key here! Whatever I plug into this new cabinet makes whatever amp sound multiple times better!
Everything sounds cleaner, quicker response (if that makes any sense), and it's nice not having my amp on a kickback.
I very well may end up even gigging with this cabinet, because the sound really is that much better than the combos.
NOTE: I use my combos as a head to drive this cabinet.
If you're thinking about a higher end 2x12, THIS IS IT!!! Thank me later! ;-)

Little Beast
Just received my SC212 today. It's a little beast. I have 9 cabs already but wanted to hear what the matching cab to my Studio Classic would sound like. The cabinet was definitely made for the studio series allowing full eq range. I was able to get a thunderous tone, which was able to hold its own against my 412's. On a softer side my Les Paul did sparkled. The V-Type speakers are a first for me. I normally run Greenbacks, Creambacks and V30's in my cabs. These speakers sound like a mix of them in a way but tighter. I am pleased with the sound I am getting and the fact it is only 50lbs.
I do wish Marshall shipped the cab with casters for this price and it would be nice if Marshall also had dust covers for the studio series.
Anyhow, thank you Sweetwater for supporting my addiction!

AWESOME SOUND AND BUILD!!
Was contemplating this or the Mesa vertical 212. The 20lbs on the Mesa made the decision to go with the 50lb Marshall easier despite posterity of name brand and speakers. The V-Type speakers sound great so far. It still needs more break in time but so far, so good! Tolex is tight and almost feels like it's the actual surface of the wood that has been textured.

The only thing I found disappointing is the plastic corners and plastic handles. I was expecting metal for this price, but it's plastic. It seems like a very durable plastic, though. A slip cover would have been a nice bonus too.

Overall, I am very pleased with the product!
A Marshall cabinet that should sound better.
I bought this 2x12 because it looked good and I figured it would sound just the same. I couldn't be more wrong after testing this cabinet with several tube amp heads and comparing it to my Orange vertical 2x12 cabinet. For the price and sound the Orange cabinet wins hands down. The stock Celestion V-Type speakers Marshall put in this cabinet are one of the worst speakers I have ever heard. They are made in China just like the Celestion 70/80 speakers which I think sound like crap. Very thin sounding lacking bass with a higher treble sound. I tried Celestion Greenbacks and I currently have Celestion G12H Anniversary speakers in this Marshall. The Celestion G12H Anniversary speakers sound the best to me out of the three speakers I tried but still my Orange cabinet sounds better with the same speakers as this Marshall cabinet. This Marshall cabinet projects the sound a little better than my Orange cabinet but still lacks bass. I guess it just comes down to the cabinet's construction in this case that is affecting the tone even more so than changing the speakers. Really disappointed with this cabinet Marshall and it's way over priced for what you get.

There are countless "British"-style guitar amplifiers out there, but take it from the lifelong guitarists and tone connoisseurs at Sweetwater, when it comes to Marshall tone, there's nothing like the real thing. We've played them all, from vintage JTM45s and the ultra-cool Plexi reissue to modern handmade masterpieces such as the JVM410. There isn't a model among them we can't recommend with total confidence, and that includes their more affordable models too, like MG, DSL, and Code series amps. Thanks to our tight relationship with Marshall, Sweetwater's always on the cutting edge of their latest designs, custom models, and limited-edition gems. If you want iconic tone from across the pond, you want Marshall, and your Sweetwater Sales Engineer will help you find the perfect one.
