Value-packed Condenser Mic from Behringer

A value-laden workhorse, the Behringer SB 78A condenser microphone features a cardioid pickup pattern with excellent off-axis rejection that reduces bleed and feedback. With a switchable low-cut filter to minimize the enhanced bass frequencies that can result from close-miking, plus a super smooth midrange, Sweetwater engineers find the SB 78A makes an awesome spot mic for instruments like acoustic guitars. Its built-in wind/pop filter also makes it more than capable as a vocal mic, with high signal clarity from its 3-pin XLR connector. Finally, the Behringer SB 78A’s shockmount system offers low handling noise, and it comes with a mic stand adapter plus an impact-resistant carrying case.

Reviews

Devin Cunningham!

I feel like I hit the lottery. These condenser mics are under $ and blow away any dynamic I have ever sung thru. Great find. Thanks Devin!

Great mic for open mics
I run several open mics, and it can be a challenge to get enough vocal volume from shy or nervous singers. I tried the SM58, Beta 58A, and the Sennheiser 935, and none of them prevented me from having to crank up the vocal gain while turning the guitar way down for a decent mix for really quiet singers. Not with this microphone. Now I can get a good mix at the same gain I'd use for loud singers using the 58. And...no feedback! Plus, it's not a super tight cardioid pattern, so singers who don't have good mic technique (off-axis singing)can still be heard.

I wish I had discovered this mic 2 yr ago.

Best deal on the planet!

Thanks, Devin Cunningham, for these great condenser microphones. $. These mics destroy any dynamic microphone I have ever used for live use. It is uncanny. All day!!!

Devin Cunningham best sales rep hands down.
Unbelievable deal. No more dynamic mics for me ever again. No more singing in a hat with this condenser Mic!! Do not need a monitor because of condenser articulation. NO FEEDBACK.
Great Mic (and not just for the money)
I'd been trying to get the right vocal sound for recording a blues-rock tune. My expensive condenser sounded too smooth. My broadcast dynamics' sounds didn't sit right in the mix. Several stage dynamics sounded bland.

I thought an end-address stage condenser would be worth trying, as it would likely have decent plosive rejection (so I wouldn't have to mess with pop filters), and enough bite. There are a lot of mics to choose from, but my budget was limited. So I listened to a number of online reviews, and the SB 78a sounded surprisingly balanced and detailed, and the price was perfect. So I bought it. I'm quite pleased! The sound is warm, and articulate, without being excessively bright. This is an excellent microphone! I'm happy with the dynamic mic I use on stage, so the SB 78a is staying in my studio!
