Seagull's quest for tone gives you a better playing and sounding guitar

Robert Godin, owner of Seagull Guitars, has never been satisfied with good enough. His tireless search for the better guitar has created quite a few innovations that go into every guitar model that Seagull makes. Every S6 Original's top is pressure tested for rigidity and stiffness to ensure maximum harmonic vibration. The unique compound-curved top adds structural integrity to the guitar and allows for thinner bracing. Take it from the Sweetwater crew - the Seagull S6 Original will give you years of great performance.

Innovative neck construction and mounting delivers killer playability and tone

The attention and care given to each Seagull shows in their looks, playability, and tone. Seagull has also taken extra care to ensure that the S6 Original's neck helps create an amazing guitar experience. An acoustic guitar's neck is more than just a fretboard used for playing, it also creates the guitar's tone. Seagull's Integrated Set Neck gives your guitar the sound you want and the stability you need in a performing guitar. This system provides stable and consistent action that also reduces warping and twisting. Thanks to this integrated system, the S6 Original's neck pitch is perfectly set. If it's too far forward the instrument will sound muddy, or if it's too far back the guitar will sound tinny. Seagull's design assures optimized sound and playability with these and other innovations found in the entire Seagull line.

Handcrafted in Canada for more than a quarter of a century

For over 25 years, Seagull guitars have been handcrafted in the small village of La Patrie in eastern Quebec. About half of the population works creating these exquisite guitars. All of the guitars in the Seagull line are made in Canada from the S6 Original models to the Maritime models to the top-of-the-line Artist series guitar. Most of the tonewoods are also harvested from Canadian forests. You'll love the attention to detail, the quality tonewoods, and Seagull's commitment to make the best guitar possible. Grab a Seagull S6 Original and experience the difference.

I love my new Seagull S6 !!! It sounds as beautiful as it looks !!!!!

Seagull S6 Original

I love my Seagull S6. As a beginning guitarist I read the reviews before I decided to make my purchase. They all raved about the sound of this guitar and I have found them to be very accurate. Great sound and playability without a huge price tag. As an aside, the customer service at Sweetwater is outstanding!

So great, i bought the same model... 18 years later.

Skip to the bottom if you're in a hurry!First, a little backstory. I've played since I was about 10, taking it more seriously in my late teenage years. I had a basic model Fender acoustic, and was having trouble with the high action, poor intonation, and general lack of playability. My Dad and I went to our local guitar store, and the owner recommend I sit down with a Seagull S6. I wasn't sure at first. It was kinda odd looking with its pointy headstock. And I'd never heard the name before (remember, this was as a teenager when the "brand name" mattered almost more that anything else). Nonetheless, I sat down with it and fell in love right away. I immediately sounded like a better player! No more boomy low end, no more buzzing frets, and my fingers had more left in them after playing for quite a while. Fast foreword 18 years and here we are. I still have and play that S6, but it's seen some heavy use over the years. It has a small crack on the top and the resulting repair took away some of the clear projection that I loved. I own many other guitars, but there's just something about my Seagull. So, I knew it was time for another one. I didn't have to look far, because I wanted the exact same thing. S6, cedar top, no electronics. What I got was exceptional! I was so impressed. My guitar arrived meticulously packaged, still in tune and ready to play. I immediately got nostalgic and almost choked up a bit. Don't tell anybody I said that (I'll deny it if you do). I loved the fact that they hadn't changed anything at all in all those years with the exception of the very slight "polishing up" of some details. I love the new border around the headstock, and the jawdroppingly beautiful back and sides. Now for the actual guitar! Whether you're just beginning to play or have been playing for decades, you will love this instrument. First off, the build quality is top notch and on par with guitars that cost four times as much. Not kidding here; I own some of those too. It has a remarkable presence and projection, but is very well balanced. The soundstage is clear and bright, but the low end still keeps up nicely. The S6 has my favorite neck of anything I own. It's very playable and has perfect intonation (and stays in tune!). The size and shape for me are wonderful as I play this guitar sitting down with no strap. To sum things up, if you have around $400 to spend on a guitar, this is a no-brainer. This is not a cheap or "budget" guitar. It's a truly world class hand-made instrument. Yet it's affordable.. And honestly, unless you want to jump WAY up in cost, you're going to waste your money on anything else, period.

Great acoustic guitar from Seagull

First- unfortunately I didn't buy mine from Sweetwater as they didn't offer Seagulls at the time. I am a loyal Sweetwater customer and really wanted to purchase it from them. But, that said, this acoustic is wonderful. It is well constructed, beautiful, simple in looks and the tone and loudness is great. It came to me perfectly. The first thing you notice is the deep rich sound and the playability. I didn't get the electric stuff as it is plenty loud and I don't play on a stage. Seagulls just look and feel professional and not gaudy. If you want fancy, get an Epiphone. If you want functionality and just great sound, get a Seagull. Don't waste your money on the $200 acoustics even if you are a beginner. One thing with the S6 Original, the neck is pretty thick. It is very comfortable but if you have little hands you may want to consider the slim version. I don't have big hands and I love the feel of the neck.

Seagull S-6

I was originally disappointed when the new guitar arrived. Action was extremely high. Called my Sweetwater rep who gave me a return label and assured me it would be returned to my satisfaction. I received the guitar in less than 10 days with a fine setup. This is the only issue I have ever had in many purchases from Sweetwater. They made it right.
