Reviews

Fender is Back!
I purchased my first Fender Jazz bass in 1979. One of the best sounding guitars that I've ever owned. In the mid 80s to late 90;s the brand lost its zeal/quality to me. I found my way back home to Fender when they introduced the American Standard line of products. I purchased an American Standard Jazz/5 string, and a 60th anniversary Diamond PBass and have renewed my respect and appreciation of the Fender Brand. Consequently, I purchased a Fender Rumble Amplifier when my little Mark Bass 800 did not put out the clarity I wanted. The Rumble is perfect: powerful, easy to dial in my sound, light weight, good looking, and it's Fender!
Music background: 46 years of professional bass playing
I’m happy with this purchase
I have been playing bass guitar for 50 years and have always been a fan and owned Fender basses. In the late 80's to mid 90's the brand did not meet my expectations and I started playing Earnie Ball basses, Yamaha, and Carven. To my point now, my heart for Fender basses and their products always lingered. I played a friend's Fender Rumble Combo Amp at a jam session and I was Impressed with the thump and tone to say the least. Before I returned to Fender, I played SWR, Markbass, and Ampeg amps and speakers (I still have a 410 Markbass cab and Little Markbass Amp, and an Ampeg 210 combo practice amp). I needed more power, clarity and easy to dial in controls. The Rumble 800 checks all the boxes for me: power 800 watts, light weight, simple and efficient controls and the cool gig bag included is a nice touch. I use it on big stages as my DI and l really like it. Thanks Fender and keep up the good work. Time to buy Fender Stock now!
Music background: Professional Musician of many years. I play in several bands locally mostly cover stuff: R&B, Funk, Jazz, Gospel, Cumbias and Rock when called upon.
Why did I wait so long?
I LOVE the Fender Rumble combos. I have a 100, 200 and they are awesome. Reliable, great tone. So why I waited so long to get this head I don't know. I've been looking for a lightweight, powerful, and reliable head I can throw in my gig bag. I'm an Ampeg guy, but have had bad luck with their lighter, Chinese made heads. Same with Peavey- and I've had friends who have had Mark Bass heads grenade during gigs. I recently picked up a Tone Hammer 700. I like it fine, but for some reason it's hard to find the tone I want. I've come close, but have to put in a lot of trial and error to get in the ballpark.
I've recently seen numerous pics of this head sitting atop Michael Anthony's rig. I thought "WTH?"he must know something. I snagged one on Black Friday and gigged it Saturday night for 4hrs of classic rock and metal. It delivered. I probably didn't need it, but I ran an SGT through the front of the amp for flavor and DI off the head itself to foh. No hissing, no pooping….just pure bass goodness with chunky lows, punchy mids and clean highs. I got numerous compliments. It isn't to coolest looking or fanciest head on the market, but it is meat and potatoes good. Super light, user friendly. Comes with a protective bag, foot switch and all the cables you need except for your bass. Can't wait to crank through this sucker some more. Thanks to Rep James Masterson and Dihn at the Arizona Dist Center for the quick hook up!

Rumble Head
Great head for the money. Fender build them right. Love it.
Music background: weekend worrier. long time bass player
Effective gigging amp
I got this as micro-sized backup for my Darkglass MT900v2 micro head, but the Fender is just as effective at gigs. The Darkglass distortion modules have a modern character that works great for rock. The Rumble 800 and its overdrive module sounds more neutral to my ears, so I tend to use it with pop, country, blues bands.

Having said that: my bandmates that notice my tone are complimentary whether I'm using Darkglass or Fender, and I don't believe the audience notices at all: they tend to feel bass rather than hear it. But we musicians notice our own tone, and there's nothing wrong with pleasing our own ears.

Bottom line: the Rumble 800 head has all the power I need for my bar gigs, and versatile tone-tweaking options. It also seems sturdy enough, although that's a moot point because I move my own gear and treat it gently.
Music background: Busy semi-pro weekend warrior, regular bands plus sub gigs
