Fender Rumble 40 Bass Combo Amp at a Glance:
  • Sound-shaping and more
  • More than just a solid performance tool

Sound-shaping and more

The Rumble 40 combo's 4-band EQ helps to shape your sound, and the 3-button voicing palette sculpts the sound further. Choose between bright (adds a treble zing to the sound), contour (low-end boost), or vintage (classic bass tone with deep lows and vintage character). These give you a ton of flexibility to find your signature sound. The XLR line output can pump the tone you love straight into the PA for bigger gigs. This will make your sound tech happy, since it'll greatly simplify getting you pumped into the PA. Need a little extra teeth for a particular song or passage? The Rumble 40's built-in overdrive has your back. Get the optional footswitch for instant onstage convenience.

More than just a solid performance tool

The Rumble 40 combo isn't just about performance, though; it also helps you practice. It's stuffed with a handy aux input that you can plug your iPod, laptop, drum machine, or other practice gear into. And there's an 1/8" headphone jack, so you can practice late into the night.

A single 10" speaker for serious punch

Fender loaded the Rumble 40 with a single 10" speaker - the perfect choice for making sure your bass punches through the mix.

Fender Rumble 40 Bass Combo Amp Features:
  • Basement-friendly 40 watts
  • Single 10" speaker delivers serious punch
  • Vintage vibe with modern features
  • Footswitchable overdrive for extra aggression (footswitch available separately)

Reviews

Wonderful Amp! Perfect for all situations!
Overall this is one of the best amps on the market. It gets loud enough to work at an acoustic practice and can hold it's own against a soft handed drummer. At only 18lbs it's so easy to carry around. Fender has sold a ton of these and for good reason. You get a nice, lightweight, loud, and compact package for a great price. If you are on the fence, don't be..... just buy one!

Great sound, so have to learn to adjust it. Shakes my windows in my house.
Yep the real deal
Love my new Fender Rumble 40 for my new bass! Gets the job done and then some. Lots of knobs to explore and it is loud - always good. One thing I did tho was to get a 15 foot cord for my bass so I can give it all the space it's glorious self needs. I'm a beginner but I knew I wouldn't be satisfied with anything smaller lol. I know I have to practice more so I can live up to my Amp haha.

Thanks Craig for turning me on to this amp. It is bad to the bone
Does Size Matter?
Not when it comes to the Rumble 40 by Fender. First, I'm a six-stringer guitar guy with very minimal time spent thumping on a bass over the past five-plus decades. Recently I joined a church music group playing an acoustic-electric guitar and singing, but ….. about once a month or so, I've been subbing for the group's regular bass guitarist when he's out. So, a few weeks ago I picked up a Hofner Ignition series "Beatle" bass for church and home recording. After having my tech swap out some of the cheapo China-made parts for German-made parts and doing some corrective fret work and a set-up, that thing really feels and plays and sounds great. When I went to pick it up, I had the chance to test it through a Rumble 40. It blew me away. I had been looking at them on-line for a while and was split between the 40 or 100. In the end I settled on the 40. The 10" speaker really has so much punch. The Hofner has a deep bottom end, anyway, so for me the 10-inch speaker is a better match for a violin bass than a 12-inch speaker The other selling point is that this has an XLR line out that can connect to a PA if you are in a larger venue needing more power. But for my needs — church, small venues, recording, the Rumble 40 is more than enough. So many people are calling it a perfect practice amp — which it is — but, I do think it is much more than that. Finally, 18 pounds? Are you kidding me? I love that number>
