Ride/Crash with a 'Tude

Paiste cymbals have amazed the drumming world for over 100 years with their clarity, their rich voice, and remarkable sustain — not to mention their handcrafted quality. The 20-inch Paiste Rude Ride/Crash carries on that high-quality tradition yet bristles with a brutish attitude that immediately caught the attention of Sweetwater drummers. On its burnished bell, across its pneumatically pummeled bow, and along its hand-trued edges, the 20-inch Paiste Rude Ride/Crash responds to the drummer's touch with lively intensity, a cutting stick sound, a heavy feel, and an explosive crash.

Paiste 20-inch Rude Ride/Crash Cymbal Features:

  • Big cymbal with a bold voice that will cut through the mix with powerful accents
  • Hand- and machine-hammered bow consistently produces complex and wide-ranging ride tones
  • Flame-heating the bell leaves a toasty, burnished appearance that looks and sounds great
  • Extra-heavy cymbal generates superior volumes with a bright, raw attitude

Reviews

Its the Sound of pure Evil.
Love It. though its a really heavy ride, not ez to crash, Its just explosive, menecing and unfiendly maybe because we've hearth Rudes on Slayer albums. If you don't all ready know what cymbals you want on a metal kit, than you want Rudes. They are B8s so there is no way you will be able to break them.
Very nice crash and ride. very RUDE.
Allow me to clarify before my glowing review, I am in a brutal death metal band and hardcore band. I am not hitting this cymbal; I am beating it. This is not going to be the cymbal for you if you do not intend on hitting very hard.

Now, onto the review:
This cymbal excels at loud to very loud dynamics in its crash purpose. It is able to punch through any guitar in rehearsals and kill it live without issues. If you have any issues getting the volume you want out of this crash, hit the gym. It is brash, loud and simply blows anything else out of the water. Only actual rides used as crashes, or first gen Z customs (Ex. 20" A custom Ride, 18"-20" rock crashes) can meet it in volume but fall just short in cut IMO.

Now as a ride it can be pretty good, the bell is wonderful and the wash of the bow sounds like its growling at you. It fits into hard rock and, shockingly, Latin music very well. Used as exclusively a ride that you can crash with immense volume it is a decent option and an investment th

Exceptionally loud, abrasiveness, and RUDE
Initially, I was skeptical of grabbing this to use strictly for crashing. I previously played a Zildjian I 20" crash/ride, and the volume level was appropriate for what I was playing stylistically. As that began to crack over time, I decided I wanted to make the switch to the RUDE series since I was slowly going all towards Paiste anyways. As I was happy with the abrasiveness offered by the 24" mega ride I had purchased. Immediately, I recognized that this crash ride lives up to the expectations I had for it. It is LOUD when crashing on it, and when it comes to my typical performances, it is essential. The cymbal cut through really well during the first few rehearsals, and I find myself pleased with it. As with the other RUDE cymbals I have tried, it tends to shine at higher volumes, but suffers a bit when played softly. The cymbal really needs to be played hard to hear it at it's full potential, whereas it almost comes across as difficult to keep it quiet. Then again, buying RUDE cymbals for softer music isn't exactly an ideal path to take, and since I play louder and more abrasive music, this is no hinderance to me. Overall, I was pleased. The bell sounds great as well, and the RUDE 20" crash/ride has really been a major upgrade for my sound and presence. I'm looking forward to performing live with it.
