Reviews

These Are Incredible Speakers, But…….
Bottom Line. These Are Phenomenal Speakers.

But …… If & Only If You Have An Amp With Balls.
Do Not Use With An Average Amp, Because
The Polk R700's Are A 4 Ohm Speaker.
Not Super Efficient Either With A 88db Sensitivity,
You Probably Wont Even Get The Woofers To Move Without A Good Quality, High Power Amplifier.
Not Just High Watts, But A High Current Amplifier
That Can Drive These Speakers Properly.

I Am Using A Vincent SV-237 MK2 Hybrid Tube Amp.
150W RMS @ 8 Ohms / 250W @ 4 Ohms.
The Vincent Also Has A LOUDNESS Button.

( Yeah, Yeah I Know. Audiophiles Don't Use Loudness.
At Times, I Like Listening At Lower Volumes, I Still Want The Dynamics, I Still Want To Feel The Bass,
I Love Amps That Have A Loudness Button )

Even At Low Volume Levels, The Polk R700's Have A Taught Low Bass That Can Be Both Heard & Felt.

The Tweeters & Midrange Are Smooth & NOT Harsh
Or Shrill Sounding.

The Polk R700's Sound Comes Alive With Higher Volumes.
Like Being Right There At A Live Event.
The Polks Never Sounded Fatiguing, Even For Extended LOUD Listening Sessions. ( 4 or 5 Hours )
The Wife Used To Hate Loud Music, But Now She
She Never Complains When I Crank Them Up.

When Listening At Conversation Levels, The Polk & Vincent Combo Still Maintains A Palpable Sense Of Dynamics & Is A Winning Combination.
I Have Worked In High End Audio For Over 10 Years,
Have Owned Many Amp Speaker Combos & I Can Honestly Say That We Made The Right Choice With The Polk R700's.

I Have No Plans On Chasing Or Upgrading Speakers.
Sound Wise, These Are Everything That I Have Wanted
From A Home Speaker.

Wife Approved, Even Though This Is A Big Speaker, She Found Them Aesthetically Pleasing, Nicely Rounded Edges.

Not Real Wood Veneer, But Very Nice For Sure.
The Only Slight Negative Is That These Are Not The
Top Imaging Speakers That I Have Heard.
However, I Would Take Smooth Dynamics Of The
Polks Any Day Over A Speaker That Had Slightly
Better Imaging.

And For The Reviewers Who Claim That The Tweeters
Are Weak. What??????

The Tweeters Sound Sweet & Smooth, Not Over Powering, Not Overly Forward, Not Like Shrill & Harsh Like Metal Domes.
Maybe You Blew The Tweeters By Clipping
A Low Quality Amplifier?

Also Have Read Reviews About Too Much Bass
Or Not Enough Bass.
EVERY Room Is Different! No Way That Every Speaker
Manufacturer Can Make Every Speaker Sound Perfect
In Every Single Room!

Just Like A Cook Uses Salt & Pepper To Season Food,
TONE Controls Are On An Amp Or Preamp To Be Used As Seasoning.

I Feel That Polk Did A Great Job Of Tuning These.
They Can Be A Neutral Lamb In The Background.
Or A Rumbling Herd Of Elephants With Edge Of Your Seat Dynamics!

Now, These Do Require A Break In Period, I Felt
That The 50 Hour Mark Seemed To Really Loosen
Them Up A Little. Midrange Opened Up And The
Bass Became Deeper & Punchier.

I Have Owned:
DCM Time Windows
KEF C40's
Dahlquist DQM9's
Athena ASF-2's
Polk Monitor 5's.
Polk 10B's
Polk RT3000P's
Polk R700's

The Polk R700's Have Topped Them All.
In Sound Quality, Scale, Appearance &
Price To Performance Value.
These Sound Much, Much More Expensive
Than They Are.

Very Happy For Sure
