Auteur preamps deliver big-console sound
The Revolution 14x16 audio interface contains two Revolution preamps and two of Black Lion Audio’s lauded Auteur preamps, the latter of which heretofore have only been available in the company’s standalone preamps. Offering the best of both worlds, Auteur preamps exhibit the fast attack of American-style pres — perfect for drums and percussion, acoustic guitars, and other sources with fast transients. Transformer-coupled like the classic large-format consoles of yesteryear, Auteur preamps use genuine CineMag USA big iron to add harmonic heft and saturation when you push them. Cranking the gain gives you the warmth, girth, and color of classic British preamp designs — which can be especially flattering for bass instruments and vocals. The preamps for channels 1 and 2 are accessible via either the front- or rear-panel channel 1 and 2 XLR combi connectors.
