Reviews

Surprised by tone!
For decades I have used phosphor bronze strings on my ''73 D18. Thought I would try these Martin Retros and I was pleasantly surprised by their balanced tone while still keeping that warm D18 sound.

The Best Strings I’ve Ever Used
A luthier friend of mine turned me onto these and they have really enhanced the sonic qualities of my guitars!

They seem to bring out the best in every instrument, bringing out the individual characteristics inherent in their tonewoods and build!

Being able to purchase them at this price for a three pack makes them extremely affordable as well!

Smooth reliable tone that last
I perform in church monthly and these Monel's really have given my guitar and voice a comfortable place to rest. I use these strings on an old D-1 Sigma Guitar by Martin, 11-53's Monel. This has been my go to guitar of late. I placed a set on a Seagull Entourage Rustic, these brought out the qualities on that guitar as well. I am waiting on some 12-54 Monel's for a Guild DS-240 I am looking for tone on, hopefully these Monel's will work.

The characteristic of the model strings brings out the quality of the build and woods of a guitar. Warm with little or no overtones. Very resonate, even over a couple months. Averse to corrosion.

The tone of the strings again brings out the build and woods of the guitar. Tones are modestly scooped in the middle, leaving plenty of room for your voice, but if you pick those middle strings with vigor, you will not be disappointed.

I do use a Taylor 214ce, I keep Elixir's 12-53 92/8's for its particular performing sound.

Love the strings not the 3 pack
I love the sound of these strings on my 2022 taylor 512ce. I don't like the 3 pack because it is 3 sets of strings in one fresh bag. This is not as much of an issue for the nickel strings, they won't rust but can tarnish just much more slowly than other string types degrade. I'd just rather have 3 separate sets cause (let's be honest) I don't change my strings as often as I probably should anyway. So live and learn, I'll be ordering separate 1-packs in the future.
